Chapter 9

Y/n pov

Charlie was leaving for Romania today but I couldn't go down to see him off. My class was doing practice today with a partner and I was walking around watching each person with varying comments of good job or giving advice. The classroom door opened and Dumbledore looked in.

"Professor black," he said. I looked over.

"Headmaster," I said smiling walking over to the door.

"Someone needs to see you. I would gladly take over your class for a moment while you speak"

"Oh alright. Thank you"

He smiled before walking in. I walked out and saw Charlie in the hallway. He had a small smile on his face.

"Hi Charlie," I said

"Hi love," he said as I walked over to him. He was leaning on the wall. He stood up and moved one hand from behind his back. He handed me a small thing of flowers. I smiled at him.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"I can't just give my girlfriend flowers"

"You can," I said softly.

"I wanted to see you before I go."

"I wanted to come down" I started

"You're fine love. I knew you had class." He held one hand onto my waist. "I'm going to miss you" he mumbled resting his head on my shoulder.

"I'll see you soon," I said rubbing his back as he pulled me into a hug. My arms went around his torso up to his shoulders. He held one hand to the back of my head. He kissed the top of my head.

"See you at Christmas" he whispered

"See you at Christmas" I whispered back.

He pulled away slowly obviously not wanting to.

"I love you," he said.

"I love you," I said with a smile. I heard a crash in the other room and winced.

"I'll let you get back to your class"

"Alright"

"See you soon my love"

I walked back into the classroom and saw everyone looking at Seamus.

"What happened?" I asked putting the flowers on my small desk near my door.

"He hit the window," Neville said. I looked up at the window.

"Merlin's sake" I whispered.

"I'm going to pretend I didn't see that and leave," Dumbledore said to me before walking out.

"How what?" I asked. Seamus shrugged. I grabbed out my wand and fixed the window.

"Nothing magic can fix," I said. "I think we'll stop practicing for today," I said laughing awkwardly.

It started to get colder outside. Snow was on the ground everywhere. I pulled my jacket closer to me as I walked outside. These were always the days I missed Charlie the most. We used to walk here all the time but Christmas was coming soon so I would just have to wait.

The yule ball was in three days and everyone was scrambling for dates. I loved watching the girls and boys try to find someone. It was funny when It happened in my class. It was usually a note and I knew what the note was about when I saw the facial expressions. I did see Viktor ask Hermione. Never thought I'd see him ask someone to a ball but it made me smile.

I walked back to my office and saw a face in my fireplace.

"Dad?" I asked.

"Hey pup"

"What are you doing"

"Checking in on you"

"Why" I asked with a smile.

"Cause I want to check in with my daughter. Is that so wrong"

"No"

"Good"

He started talking about how he got into a fight with Moony over breakfast that morning and how it felt like they were back in hogwarts with how they fought. I laughed at his stories

"So," he asked. "Has that boy asked you to marry him yet"

"Merlin dad," I said laughing a little. "You don't want me to have the last name black anymore do you"

"Well I don't mind if you change it"

I laughed

"He hasn't"

"He better and soon"

"Dad calm down. He's in Romania again ill see him for Christmas after the ball though"

"Hopefully he proposes."

I shook my head hiding a smile.

"Pup I know you want him to. Just admit it. You act just like your mother. She never admitted wanting to get married every time I asked if she wanted to. It took me actually proposing to her to know she wanted to marry me." I laughed. I looked at my watch.

"I have to go, Dad," I asked.

"Don't escape this conversion like that"

"I have to go," I said standing up.

"Pup!"

"Bye Dad," I said.

"Bye pup" he ended up saying before he disappeared. I shook my head with a smile before sitting at my desk. I looked over some of the tests I had to grade before an owl flew in. It landed on my desk and dropped the letter from its beak. I grabbed some treats from my drawer and gave them to the bird. I grabbed the letter from my desk and saw Charlie's messy handwriting. I smiled before opening it.

"Hello love

I have just made it to Mum's house. She is so happy you're coming home to visit once again and is even more excited to see us together once again. I miss you a lot and can't wait to hold you in my arms again.

I smiled before grabbing a parchment and writing back. I gave it to the owl before getting up from my desk and changing into one of his sweaters I stole when he was here and shorts. I laid down in bed and pulled the blankets over me. Soon I'd be in his arms feeling much warmer than I am now.
