NAMJOON
The room radiated power, a power only a few in the world would ever get to experience. The people here held the influence of so many people. Most were horrible people, some were just puppets, and others like me and my friends tried to ignore it. But on days like today it was hard to ignore, hard to ignore the looks we got, ignore the notifications on my phone. With just our arrival in the building the world seemed to be already bussing in a way that is different to the way it had been. That is the impact of being in BTS.
The walls vibrated as a result of the music. If there was one word to describe this party, it would be sin. Utter sin the 1% of people in the K-pop industry got to experience. Hoseok was networking. All night he had been congratulated on the success of Jack in the box. The listening party had gone well, as expected. The rest of us knew undoubtedly that it would go well, that didnt stop Hoseok from being worried the whole day. Looking at him now the nerves seemed almost non-existent. Drink in hand I observed. Observed my team members. Observed people who held secret animosity smile tightly. Observed Jung Kook and Taehyung dance together.
Jimin shuffled over slowly almost spilling champagne on his Chanel 31 sweatshirt.
"You arent planning on standing in this corner the whole night are you?" He questioned smiling through a sip of his drink.
This brought a smile to my face. Jimin naturally was affectionate, but when tipsy the intensity rises.
There are times when merely observing is enough for me. My friends are enjoying themselves; I am nursing a glass of whiskey- this is what would be defined as those times when merely observing is going to work for me.
"No, I am not. I am just watching Taehyung and Jung Kook. There are going to be some crazy stories tomorrow." I laugh shifting the conversation from me, with Jimin joining in.
Better them than us. In silence, as silent as a room with a bunch of people and music can be- we watch -and nurse our drinks. At some point Jimin finishes his drink and is dancing against me. An involuntary smile makes it to my lips. I let him dance in circles around me, tipsy or not- no one compared to the sensual way that man can move his body.
Slowly the tension thickens, I can tell he is forgetting where we are. Two friends dancing like this is going to cause the media to lose it once more, and as fun as that can be sometimes its not something I want to deal with right now. I slowly move him to where Jung Kook and Taehyung are. Once the three are huddled together do I make my move to a different corner by the snacks. The glass in my hand has been refilled at the open bar and I am ready to get back to observing the upper 1%.
Looking back on it now I blame the alcohol. There is a certain type of confidence and courage a man only acquired with some liquor.
Perhaps it was the way that she moved as she danced or the dancing itself that drew me to stare at the dark-haired woman.
There was liquidity to her movements that just couldnt be taught, as someone who had spent hours dancing, I knew it when I saw it. A light smile adorned her lips as she drew in all eyes in her vicinity. Put simply her demeanour and energy aroused my adoration, although not only mine.
The dance floor was void of anyone but her and 3 other girls who seemed to be her friends. I wasn't the only one looking, the whole party was looking. This was not the type of dancing that happened at a party like this. The people here would share this with some tabloid. Like a goddess she moved on dancing laughing with her friends twirling around when they seemed to get shy.
At some point, her friends had stopped to watch her as she moved her hips hypnotically. It didn't take much to notice that she was tipsy. The song drew to a close with her dancing on her friends. To say my attention was captured would be an understatement. A lazy smile adorned her face as she moved.
