I stepped out of the limo as my parents fell in step right behind me. Today was the worst day of my life. I was being forced into an arranged marriage to my polar opposite, Chloe Astor. Chloe and I have known each other since we were pretty much in diapers and even then she was annoying. Always smiling that ridiculous smile and bouncing off the walls like a kid on a sugar high. She doesn't take anything seriously like ever and is always talking.

I tried to get out of this but my parents wouldn't budge saying "This will be good for you, maybe Chloe could teach you to let loose some"

As if, work comes before everything in my life and I didn't need Chloe ruining my plans. My family and I walked into their large estate. I've been to this place probably a million times but this time everything feels so different. Normally when I come it's for a party or a meeting of some sort but this time I'm marrying the only daughter of the Astor family and I couldn't be more angry.

Chloe was sitting in her usual seat in her family's dining room, right in the middle with three empty chairs around her. One for me and two for my parents. She stood up and hugged my parents. They always favored her but when she got to me she simply sat back in her seat.

I let out a deep sigh and sat next to her. She cut her eyes over at me and I gave her a nod letting her know I saw her.

"The Hernedez's welcome and thank you for coming"Elijah said clapping his freakishly large hands together

"Thank you for having us"my mom said with a bright smile

Alice Hernedez was commonly known for her toothy smiles. She's been on dozens of magazine covers because of it.

My father, Jason, was more so known for his power. That's one reason this arrangement was finalized, The Astor's had the money and we had the power.

Dinner was mostly silent between Chloe and I. She didn't speak other than to ask for me to pass her something next to me. It was honestly the longest I've seen her quiet.

"Now guys, you two need to talk or this won't work"Emelee stated still cutting her steak

"You don't want to know what I have to say mom"Chloe huffed

"Now Chloe what did I say about bad language"Elijah said

"Good thing I didn't say anything huh"Chloe came back immediately

I suppressed a smile, Chloe was well known for always having the last word no matter the argument.

"Well what about you Jake"Emelee asked

"Well I think If this will be beneficial there's no reason to reject It"I say receiving a few smiles of approval. All I got from Chloe was a glare.

Once dinner was over, the maids moved all of Chloe's stuff into my limo and we drove off to my own place.

"What was up with that"she seethed once we were on the road

"Up with what"I say startled that she broke her endless silence

"If this will be beneficial there's no reason to reject it. Are you crazy"she said slapping my arm

"Not as crazy as you, Have you heard the way you talk to your parents"I commented flicking some lint off my neatly pressed pants

"I'll talk to them however I want because they basically sold me to your family"she said rolling her eyes

"Whoa now, no amount of money could make me want you"I say defensively

"I know, Its because Im priceless"she beamed with pride

"Keep saying that"I say drowning her out the rest of the ride home, I needed some quick ways to die to get out of this or she'd talk me to death.
