Jeremiah Lexer suffered from severe schizophrenia and bipolar disorder which eventually led to him killing his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and his three grandchildren. He chopped up their bodies with a freshly sharpened ax, when the police arrived they found body parts scattered all around the property.
After that final act, he finished it off by jumping off a two-story building, falling to his death. Although to others he seemed normal, he lived a double life, which explains why his actions were such a shock to people who lived near.Jeremiah's house was in Talbot, Tennessee, but is now turned into a haunted attraction called Frightmare Manor. Before the current owner bought the property it was a popular restaurant. Soon after opened, they closed it down, due to several sightings and other paranormal activities. There have been many spirits, shadows, and ghost-like figures spotted by employees of both the restaurant and Frightmare Manor. The place was bought in 2009 when they built it, however, they are still discovering the blood-curdling secrets it holds.
Jeremiah became known as one of the most notorious small-town serial killers of the 1800s. Although only twenty-seven bodies were found to be killed by him, they later found thirty-one deceased victims hidden in the backwoods behind Jeremiah's home. If he is responsible for all of those too, that would add his kill count to around sixty.
Many people from that area went missing, and some believe he was responsible. Some estimate the number of kills to be around one hundred innocent people.
You can visit where this horrible incident happened, along with where he was buried, today in Talbott, TN. But beware, at Frightmare Manor, in one of the attractions there sits the real set of stairs Jeremiah walked up leading to his death.
