The first thing we were doing was going to the beach, being that it was the closest thing to us and it was already so late in the afternoon. I knew we'd probably go out to eat after. My sister and I made our way to the edge of the shore, cutting off at the water.
"Come on!" my sister yelled, wading in the the water, a tide catching her as she did.
"I'm coming!" I yelled back. Damn she was fast.
I was glad to be in the water, hidden, rather than being exposed to all the onlookers. I have always been self-conscious of my body. Right now I'm wearing a black one piece with shorts, my go-to swim wear. My sister has always been confident, never had a problem. She's a human string bean.
I was cut off by my thoughts as I saw a girl starting to swim in the water with someone else- a boy. She looked familiar. The boy I didn't recognize. The girl had shoulder-length dark brown hair and fair skin. The girl and the boy were having fun-too much fun. So much fun that I had to look away to save my sanity. I never understood the point of bringing a boyfriend on vacation, especially when you're going to break up anyway and get with a new person 2 weeks later? Why waste the money for a lost cause? Maybe it's just me. I've never had a boyfriend and I've always thought there was spending wrong with me because of it.
"Hey Julia! I'm going to get out now! You should to, we're leaving!" I yelled.
"A few more minutes?" She screamed back, annoyed.
"No! We're going to St.Celcila's for dinner."
At the relation to food, she got out as soon as I did.
Right after I'd left the water, I looked back at the happy, young couple. And then it hit me- that girl. She was my pen pal the last time in came here. Cameron.
