Peter Parker was your average teenager. He worked hard at school, submitting his work on time and living with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. He was happy, well somewhat. Peter had a bit of a temper from all the times he was bullied by Flash Thompson. One day, Peter gets invited to the public exhibition of the Isotope Genome Accelerator device.
As he entered the building, he looked around and saw the device and was awestruck at the sight. As he was looking at the device, a scientist entered the room. "Welcome, welcome, welcome. My name is Doctor Eric Schwinner and this is my greatest invention yet. The Isotope Genome Accelerator. With this device, I have managed to manipulate radioactive rays here in my lab and I am proud to demonstrate this device. Please, for your safety, keep behind the yellow line and put on the safety goggles that have been handed to you."
Peter puts on the goggles that were given to him and keeps away from the yellow line. "Before we begin, I must disclose that when the device is active you must keep behind that yellow line. It's for your safety and our safety." Dr Eric informs everyone. "Now, let the demonstration begin."
As the device powers up, a random spider crawls on the device and crawls into the radioactive rays. After it accidentally absorbs a huge amount of radiation, it crawls to the nearest person. Unaware of the spider, Peter continues to watch the demonstration with a small smile on his face. "It's incredible. How did he... ouch." Peter smacks his hand in response to the sudden pain he felt on his hand. After smacking his hand, he watches as the spider falls to the floor.
Peter suddenly begins to feel lightheaded and sneaks out of the demonstration for fresh air. "What just happened? Why did that spider...?" Peter looks down at his hand and studies the spider bite. "I need to get home, I don't feel so good."
As Peter was walking home, he wasn't getting any better. He turns into an alleyway and continues to look at his hand. "What's happening to me?" Peter asked himself before hearing vibrations in his head. "Hand over your valuables kid, or I'll gut you like a fish."
Peter turns around and sees 3 thugs standing behind him. One with a gun, the other two holding metal pipes. "I said hand over your shit!" One of the thugs yelled as he charged for Peter. In a flash, Peter blocks the attack by grabbing the thug's wrist. As Peter grabs his wrist, the thug yells out in pain as he tries to pull away from Peter's grip.
As the thug pulls back, his skin rips from his flesh. As the blood from the thug's wrist drips down to the ground and over Peter's hand, the other two grab him and make a run for it. Shaken by what happened, Peter runs home.
When he arrives home, he runs straight for the bathroom and locks the door, trying to wash the blood from his hand. "Oh God, oh God. What in the hell happened? Why me? Why?" Peter's voice was shaking as tears began to fall down his face. After washing the majority of the blood off, he looks at himself in the mirror. "This is just a bad dream, I'll wake up fine tomorrow, I'll wake up..." Peter was interrupted by a knock on the bathroom door.
"Peter? Peter honey? Are you alright?" It's his Aunt. Peter grabs a towel and wraps it around his hand before unlocking and opening and opening the door. "Yeah, just... I don't feel well. I'm gonna go and get some sleep." Peter exits the bathroom and enters his room. He sits on his bed as he tries to unwrap the towel on his hand but with no luck. It was stuck on his hand. "Are you kidding me?"
Peter tries to throw the towel on the floor but he fails. As he tries to pull the towel off his hand, he stumbles back and hits his wall. He then tried to step on the towel and pull his hand off the towel, to which he succeeded but there was another problem, his other hand was now stuck on the wall. "Oh come on." Peter pulls and pulls to no avail. "Are you being... woah!"
As Peter continued to try and pull his hand off the wall, he slipped on the towel and to save himself he pulled his legs into his chest, now his feet are stuck on the wall. He looks at the wall he is currently stuck on before looking around his room. He was sitting on his wall like how a spider would. "Heh, cool." Peter had a small smirk on his face before another knock interrupted his moment.
"Peter, can you come in the living room, please? Your Aunt and I need to talk to you." This time it was his Uncle. "Yeah, be there in a minute. Just got myself in a sticky situation with my... homework." He managed to pull himself from the wall and walked out of his room to the living room, where Ben and May were waiting for him.
"Hey, is everything okay?" Peter asks as casually as he can. Ben stands up and approaches Peter. "Are you alright?" Ben asks in a worrisome tone. Peter nods his head, saying. "Yeah, I'm okay. Why?" May shakes her head before burying her face in her hands. "Peter, are you okay?" Ben asks again to which Peter tells him he is. "There's blood in the sink, Peter. I saw it when you left the bathroom." May says, trying to hold back her tears of worry.
"What? No, no, no. It's not what you think, I'm okay. I promise." Ben grabs Peter by his wrist and pulls his sleeves up to discover nothing. No cuts, no scraps, nothing. However, he did notice the small amount of blood that Peter failed to wash off on his hand. "Why is there blood on your hand, Peter? Were you in a fight?"
Peter's heart begins to race as he tries to think of a logical answer. "I uhh... I..." Peter couldn't think of one. "Peter, what have I told you about starting fights?" Ben asked, still looking at the blood on Peter's hand. "it wasn't my fault. I swear..." Peter tried to fight his case but Ben refused to listen.
"No, I don't want to hear it! You're better than that Peter. Remember what I told you about responsibility? Or did that not mean anything to you? Because from what I can see, you still don't care. How do you think your parents would feel if they saw this? You're becoming a man, Peter. Not an incompetent child. You have this amazing gift and yet instead of using that gift, you're starting fights? You have this great gift Peter and with that great gift, there must also come great responsibility. Do you understand?"
Peter looks at Ben with tears in his eyes. "How dare you!" He pulls away from his Uncle. "Using my parents against me? Who do you think you are? How dare you! If you don't want to hear me out then why should I have to listen to you? I don't want to hear it! Leave me alone!" Peter then runs out of the house, tears streaming down his face. "Peter! Peter, I'm sorry I shouldn't have..." Ben tries to run after Peter but May stops him. "It's alright Ben. Give him time. Just next time, don't mention Mary and Richard. He still mourns for them. He'll be back before nightfall, I'm sure of it."
