As I sat in that cold, enchanted chair, feeling an otherworldly burn on my skin, I faced my mother who sat across from me on the ethereal side of the table. Lost in my thoughts, my mother must have sensed it when she whispered, "If you're not going to partake, don't toy with your food; go to sleep." I lifted my eyes from the mystic plate, opening my mouth for a moment to release some of my pent-up thoughts, only to find my mother's gaze fixed upon me with her burning crimson eyes, and I felt as if they were about to pierce through my very soul. I wiped my mouth as part of the " protocols" ; I had no intention of enduring a five-hour lecture on the matter, i got up . Inadvertently, pushed the enchanted chair too hard, in result it toppled with a resounding echo. The dining realm was vast , the ceiling towering meters above me, so it made a loud crash that reverberated, enough to amplify my mother's escalating rage, sending shivers down my spine. I turned my head towards her. "That's enough," she declared, slamming both of her hands on the surface of the table, causing the dishes to rattle in protest. She approached me, her grip on my arm infused with magical strength. We traversed the stairs, the hallway, until she cast me into my room like a mere nothing. I turned my head that was facing the ground ; she regarded me with spectral eyes and a frown etched on the edges of her mouth , staring into my essence for seconds that I counted—twenty-eight heartbeats without uttering a word, her eyes expressing profound disappointment. She turned and phased into the shadows of the hallway. I stood up the moment she conjured a locking spell behind her. I chose not to protest and make a scene for her to open the door because first , she is not listening , and second, in moments like this, I found solace from her usual orders, relishing the freedom to move without her watchful gaze scrutinizing my every step .

The rain poured relentlessly outside, creating a steady drumming on the windows of my cozy room. Lost in the pages of a book, the minutes slipped away unnoticed until a series of sneezes interrupted the quiet. Intrigued, I get up from my chair, deciding to investigate the source of the sounds.

I swung open the large window, its creaking drowned out by the relentless rain. Peering into the dimness, I could barely see anything but i felt something moving . The darkness obscured any details, prompting me to retreat into the room for a flashlight.

With the flashlight in hand, I directed its beam toward the shadows, revealing a tall figure with brown hair. In the low light, their gender remained unclear. The persistent rain muffled any potential sound, and I found myself contemplating the identity of the person standing outside my window, waiting for them to step into the light for a clearer view.
