2. zoom call

HAZEL ALLESIO WAKES UP, HEARING her mom calling her name and stomping up stairs.

"What, mom!" Hazel said, then putting a pillow over her head.

"Get on the zoom link I sent you," her mom knocked on the door. "You hear me?"

"Yes, ma'am!" Hazel yelled back, then sitting up, messed up hair.

Hazel put on a top appropriate for the occasion, but staying in her candy cane christmas pants. Then, she brushed her hair and teased it a little bit, then it was perfect. She put on a bit of mascara, then lip balm that was colored a maroon that made a red stain on the lips.

Hazel pulled out her computer, entering the zoom app, then she opened her moms text. She put the numbers and letters into the bar, then got put in the waiting room.

Hazel and the six other actors were sitting in the zoom call. Shawn Levy was pinned, as the director and who picked the cast.

Hazels eyes widened, seeing Walker Scobell sitting in the call. A Dr. Pepper was sat next to her, so she took a sip to comfort herself.

"Hello, sorry it took so long but I wanted to make sure I let you in at the same time." Shawn explained, his eyes moving around so they could tell he was looking to make sure everyone was here. "Great, all the main characters."

The actors consisted of, Hazel, Walker, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Sumpter, Malachi Barton, and Violet McGraw.

Hazel knew them all. Well, not knowing them, but she of course heard of them.

"Hey, can you hear me?" Ryan leaned towards the camera, his voice glitching over the zoom call.

Ryan was an incredible actor. Hazel acted with him a little, and they got super close. Her new father figure, she called him.

"Hey Ryan." Hazel waved, unmuting her mic and then putting it back on mute.

"So you can hear me?" Ryan asked. "Oh sorry, okay. But hey, Haze." He must've found the mute button because he went silent.

"Thank you, Ryan. Anyway, you guys are here because you got the main roles. I'll bring in the side characters later and just email the background characters but you obviously know your role." Shawn said, but still going on.

Hazel took another sip of her Dr. Pepper and then set her elbow on her desk, resting her chin on it.

"Ryan, you got the role of Mr. Foy, or just Gavin Foy." Shawn said, then moving on.

You could tell Ryan was excited, the way his eyes light up and his smile grows, even though he didn't speak.

"Jennifer, you got Lucy Foy, Gavin Foys daughter." Shawn adds.

Jennifer also smiled, then looking at the zoom to continue.

"Jeremy, you've gotten the role of Michael Billins." Shawn said. He then continued. "Malachi, you have the role of Dylan Blake."

Malachi was smiling so, so hard that Hazel could see both rows of his teeth. This must be a big movie or something, because God damn.

"Walker, the role of Colby Lopez is yours, and Hazel owns the role of Scarlet Jackson. Violet, you also have the role of Anna Jackson." Shawn finished.

Hazel was so happy, she got out her phone and clicked on her moms contact.

"i got the role!" the text said, all lowercase.

"So next week, all of us will be meeting at a hotel, except for Violet because she lives near the place we're filming, near the place we will be camping at with a free building near it. Woods will be needed for some scenes, and also sets are a necessity. No parents, just you. All of you are old enough, so I expect to see you at the airport on time. Flights will be different so I have a Limo scheduled for the morning 5:00-10:00 and one in the afternoon, 1:00-8:00. You will receive your lines there. Bye." Shawn said, ending the meeting.

Hazel got so excited and ran downstairs. "I got the role!"

Her little brother, who was 11, was sitting on the couch with her older brother who was 18, moving out soon. They were watching one of the Hunger Games movies, so Hazel got excited.

"Guess who I'm acting with," Hazel waited until Katniss appeared and then she stole the remote and paused to TV. "Her! I'm acting with Katniss Everdeen!"

"What?!" her older brother snapped his neck around. "Can I go?!"

"No? Parents aren't allowed, so neither are you. Wheres mom?" Hazel said, sitting in between her brother and sister.

"I don't know? Actually, yes I do." her older brother spoke. His name is Trey, and her younger brother is named Sam.

"And where—"

"Don't even waste your time. He won't answer. She ran to the grocery store to get milk and eggs." Sam said.

"Thanks Sam. Do you think you could help me pack or I should invite Val over to help?" Hazel asked. Val was actually named "Valentina" but got called Val. She was Hazels best friend since sixth grade, when her other one dropped her for other friends since more people in middle school means new friends.

"Invite Val. I'm going to my friends house tonight, but I'll make sure to come home so that I can say bye, since you'll be gone for, like, a few months." Sam explained.

"Thanks, bye I love you. Maybe you too, Trey." Hazel said and walked up to her room, inviting Val to pack her bag.

HAZEL AND VAL SAT ON Hazels bed, after the bag was all packed. Fortnite was on the screen, and a headset placed on their heads.

DING!

Hazel got a text from a group chat.

"Give me a sec, Val. It's some groupchat." Hazel said and just let herself die, it was painful but necessary.
