Twenty-Third Birthday

Today is Dan's twenty-third birthday and I was going to make it his best. When you turn twenty-three, the name of your soulmate apears on your forearm, unless the other person isn't twenty-three yet. I'm twenty-six and still no soulmate. What if I don't even have one? That's not possible... is it?

I woke up and looked at my digital clock, reading 11:04. I got up and opened my closet, throwing on Dan's favorite outfit of mine. I then walked to the bathroom, doing my hair and brushing my teeth. When I arrived in the living room, I saw Dan sitting on the sofa in his browsing position. He didn't seem to notice me, so I put a hand in front of face and snapped, making him jump.
"Phil! Don't do that!" He whined, sitting up a bit. I chuckled and plopped down next to him, looking over at him.
"Is this how you want to spend your birthday Dan?" I asked him. He shrugged and closed his laptop, setting it on the coffee table.
"Dunno. Nothing seems interesting."
"We could watch a movie? It's to late for breakfast now."
"I guess. Can we have Malteasers and popcorn too?"
I nodded and went into the kitchen, putting some popcorn in the microwave and getting out Dan's stash of Malteasers, putting them in a bowl. I went back into the living room and handed the Malteasers to Dan, going back and putting the now popped popcorn into a bowl and bringing it back.
"What do you wanna watch?" I asked him, going onto Netflix.

"Attack on Titan?"

I nodded and turned it on from where we left off. We watched a few episodes and then Dan suddenly yelped, grabbing his wrist and looking down at it, and his face covered in shock. I suddenly felt a pain on my own wrist, looking down at it.

Daniel James Howell.

I gasped as well and looked over at Dan, looking down at his wrist and reading my own name from it. Dan smiled at me.

" I knew it." He whispered.

And then he pulled me into a kiss.

------------

After a few years we got married and adopted a little girl, and we were happy. I realized I was wrong when I said I didn't have a soulmate. He'd been right beside me the whole time and I didn't even think about it ever being him. I'm so glad how everything turned out, and I couldn't be happier.

Thanks for reading my first one-shot! I hope you enjoyed, and sorry it's so short, I'm using my friends laptop to write this and I have a way longer and better one-shot saved to my phone. I can't charge it because my friends charger is broken, I'll publish it as soon as I can!
