It was in the year beginning from 1914 to the end of 1918 the great war had ended with the empires loss and the allies victory in Europe in which all retired mage's currently have all but forgotten the horrors of the first war all veteran mages of the great war have retired or have remained off the battlefield until today when lieutenant Colonel minna heard the encrypted words of a mage for the first time in 21 years and as 1 imperial mage of karlsland heard of another war and will return from her retirement to the battlefield all over again to protect the fatherland or karlsland now as she so proudly fought and she nearly died for in the first war

Timeskip to fuso

It was the year 1939, and as they appeared all over the world without warning we call them neuroi nobody knows where they came from but the hell they brought drove us all from countries, drove us all from our cities, and they drove us from our homes but mankind wouldnt give up so easily and came up with a new weapon and strategy to fight the neuroi and they began to stand and fight with the new eras weapon it is known as the striker unit was a powerful magical device that heightened all natural magical abilities and a call went out to all witches around the world to help with this fight this elite task Force was named the 501st joint fighter wing but these ladies go by a another name simply known as the strike witches but when a mage overheard of the Major Mio sakamoto of the  fuso navy talking about possible recruiting yoshika miyafuji and possibly a another for the 501st joint fighter wing while in fuso but the mage had heard of major flaws in the striker unit like if used to much mana it can completely drain your mana and drain your life force so you won't be able use magic after turning the age of 21 but when the imperial mage equipment was considered marvel of wwi, as all it did was stabilize your magic so you could fly but almost all were destroyed in an attempt to weakening the Fatherland for the allied powers in WW1 in which they did delay it but they missed 1 key unit which was missing until today when she would return from reserve to active duty

Now at fuso naval base in yokosuka as the major mio returned to base after bringing Miyafuji home

The major then saw the office of the retired or in the reserve service office currently open only 4 people are allowed in this office the first 2 being major sakamoto, another one, who was with her the ensign hijikata, lieutenant Colonel Minna but the 4th was a strategic officer of a higher rank and all 3 have never met her until today
