Night two of detention, Santana and Luca were instructed with dusting and organizing the bookshelves in the library. While it was more work than cleaning potions equipment, it was more peaceful.

The pale moonlight drifted in through the stained glass window. It was so quiet that Luca could hear Santana on the other side as she reshelved the books. She glanced over her shoulder at the restricted section. She rubbed her lips together before quietly creeping over.

She scanned the books and used the light on the tip of her wand to get a better look at the titles. She found one about the dark arts. She swallowed and looked over her shoulder again to make sure that she wasn't being watched by Santana. Once she was sure that it was safe, she took the book and left a book of charms in its place. She tucked it into her robe and calmly walked back over to the shelf that she was previously dusting.

She wasn't worried about getting into trouble. She'd copy down the spells that she needed later in her dorm and would return the book to its home in the restricted section before anyone noticed it was missing.

She took the final book off of the shelf she was reorganizing. She furrowed her brows when she noticed a card from a chocolate frog sticking up as a makeshift bookmark. She took the card out and examined the photo on it.

She couldn't help but sigh sadly. It was her cousin, Nymphadora Tonks. She'd only met her once when she was younger. She was the daughter of her Aunt Andromeda and Uncle Ted – both of whom she also hasn't seen for years. Bellatrix had disowned Tonks as her niece because she was a half-blood and washed her hands of her younger sister for marrying a mudblood.

The Malfoys were the only members of her family that she was allowed to have any contact with.

Luca sat down on the floor. As she kept eye contact with the young woman on the card, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was somehow there with her. "Quit looking at me like that, cousin," she whispered as she leaned her head back against the bookshelf.

Tonks was a member of the Order of the Phoenix. She was a good guy, unlike Luca, who was born into the dark side. It must've been nice being part of a family where she was safe to be who she wanted instead of who her parents wanted her to be.

"What's up with you?" Santana scowled as she looked at the petite Slytherin sitting on the floor.

"Nothing," Luca mumbled. She tucked the card away in the pocket of her robe before using her wand to dust down the shelf and reshelve the books.

"We're not supposed to be using magic." Santana crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes at the curly-haired girl as she stood up.

"Do you want to stay here all night, Sanchez?" Luca retorted. She raised a brow, and Santana lowered her gaze. "That's what I thought."

She pushed past the older girl and went to the next row of bookshelves, Tonks lurking in the back of her mind and eating away at her conscience.

Luca dragged her combat boots through the snow covered grass as she wandered away from Hogsmeade Village. She muttered the spells that she'd copied down from the book quietly to herself, squinting a little at the sloppy notes she'd made of the pronunciations.

She'd have to remake the cards later and actually make them readable. She was in a bit of a rush if she was going to return the book before someone found out she took it.

She spotted animal footprints as she ventured closer to the woods. She saw a couple of bunnies playing a few feet ahead of her and raised her wand. She was just about to practice one of the dark spells on them when her wand was suddenly expelled from her hand.

"The fuck?" she muttered. She turned around when she heard footsteps crunching in the snow behind her, scoffing when she saw who it was. "Great. Another stalker."

"Someone has to keep you out of trouble, Lukey." Nymphadora Tonks quirked a brow and smirked down at her younger cousin.

"I don't need your help, Nymphadora." Luca scoffed and rolled her eyes as she picked up her wand from the snow.

"Don't call me Nymphadora, Lucatrix."

"Don't call me Lucatrix unless you want to be very badly hurt." Luca growled in warning and raised her wand.

Tonks reached out and snatched the wand from the petite girl. She held it above her head so that Luca wouldn't be able to reach it, smirking teasingly when the teenager glared up at her. "How about you walk with me and we have a little chat, yeah?" Tonks tucked Luca's wand away in her bag for later. "You'll get this back when your impulsive urge to kill is gone."

"Who says it ever left?" Luca muttered. She tensed when Tonks grabbed her arm, pulling her to walk with her. "You could get me into so much trouble, you know that, right? I'm not supposed to be talking to you. Mummy Dearest is going to have your head, and possibly mine, when she finds out."

"If she finds out," Tonks corrected. She smiled a little and gently nudged Luca's shoulder when she looked up at her. "I won't tell if you don't."

"If you get me in hot water with my mum, I'll kill you," Luca grumbled.
