•Extended description•
Layla Fayyad has everything a girl could want, except for love.
As her thirtieth birthday looms near the pressure to find a husband mounts. Her mother's friends keep shedding tears that her youth is on the verge of expiring. It doesn't help that Layla keeps running into frog after frog with no prince in sight.
Layla soon realizes the Bollywood movies she grew up watching all lied to her. Love these days equals ghosting and situationships, and the declining value of commitment caused relationships to last as long as Tiktok videos.
On top of it, the reality of social status, beauty standards and the scams of dating apps set in. Layla's life long dream of finding true love starts to seem like something only reserved for stories.
Layla's heart still yearns for a love that she grew up witnessing between her parents. The kind that is unconditional. Whose depth would put the ocean to shame. The kind that made her believe in fairytales.
And she refuses to settle for anything less.
An adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma.
