Privet Drive, Surrey, England 1981

Privet Drive was quiet and dark at this hour, except for the street lamps dotting the street, spilling deep pools of light upon the ground. On the far end, a man materializes out of the darkness. He is tall and thin, with a long silver beard and a sparkling glint in his eyes. He is wearing dark purple robes with a pointy hat. This man is Albus Dumbledore.
Before he begins down the street, he removers a small silver object from his cloak. He extends his hand and..Click..the nearest street lamp goes out with a small pop. He continues until all of the lamps have gone dark.

Albus then hears a small meow and smiling knowingly, he turns to spy a small gray striped tabby cat atop the wall. "I should have known you'd be here, Professor McGonagall."  The cat leaps forward, shifting to reveal an older woman in emerald robes, a pointy hat and small spectacles sitting atop the bridge of her nose. "Are the rumors true, Albus?"  she asks, which caused Albus' smile to fade  "I'm afraid so Minerva. The good. And the bad." "And the boy?"  she asks. "Hagrid's bringing him and should be here soon." Minerva adopts a concerned look, then asks.  "You think it...wise...to trust Hagrid with something as important as this?"  Albus gives her a small smile and softly says  "I would trust Hagrid with my life, Minerva."

A low rumble disturbs the skies. Albus and Minerva look up and...suddenly...a motorcycle with a sidecar plummets through the clouds, hits the ground with a thunderous roar. As the smoke clears, a giant of a man climbs off and in his arms, sits a bundle of blankets. "Ev'ning Professor Dumbledore, sir. Professor McGonagall."  Albus smiled kindly and replied  "No problems, I take it, Hagrid?"  The mountain of a man shook his head  "No sir. Little tyke fell ter sleep as we was flyin' o'er Bristol."  then Hagrid steps forward and gently hand the bundle to Albus, then Albus turns to the doorstep. Minerva then steps up with a concerned look and asks  "Albus, do you really think it best to leave him here, with these people? I've been watching them all day. They're the worst sort of muggles imaginable. They're..."  " The only family he has." Albus says cutting her off. But Minerva presses still "But this boy will be famous. There won't be a child in our world who doesn't know his name..."  cutting her off again  "Exactly. It would be enough to turn any boy's head. Famous before he can walk and talk. Famous for something he won't even remember. No. He'll be much better off growing up away from all that. Until he's ready."  Albus then gently lays the small bundle of blankets on the doorstep as Hagrid sniffles. He turns to Hagrid to comfort him  "There, there, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye, after all." Hagrid nods and Albus places a parchment envelope into the blankets and steps back with an uncharacteristically dark and serious look  "Good luck, Harry Potter."

Hagrid says his goodbyes and takes off back into the air on his motorcycle as Albus and Minerva watch. Just before they leave, Minerva asks  "What of Black, Albus?"  causing Albus to sigh softly as he turns back to her  "Marlene has returned with young Icarus to London, to Grimmauld. Both are safe."  After a few moments of silence, Minerva asks "And...what of the boy's father? Will he be told about him?"  "He will be, when he is old enough to understand. That however, is Marlene's decision. Regardless, young Icarus will have a difficult time but if he's anything like his mother...I believe that he will persevere." Albus says with a sad smile that slowly morphs to a genuine one. And with that, the two old friends finally depart.

Roughly 30 miles away, in London, a beautiful young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes is staring at her sleeping one year old with a sad smile and a soft sigh. "My sweet Icarus...being a Black...won't be an easy path but it's one that I know you'll be strong enough to walk. Although, you will have help. You'll have me and your uncle Remus. Always remember that you will never be alone." she chuckle lightly to herself "You can't even understand me, can you?" The boy's light breathing feels the silence as a response "Didn't think so." she says with a giggle, then kisses Icarus gently on the head and then leaves the room.

(Please Don't ask for updates)

(A/N: apologies for the chapter being so short but it is just a prologue sooo oh well)
(I'm well aware that this is probably a disappointing chapter for y'all and honestly I don't really have confidence that I can even make this book good but I'm trying soo...that's something I guess. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk)

Any feedback is appreciated. If it's shit, please don't hesitate to let me know what I could do different.

It would be appreciated to get some suggestions for a love interest...Hermione is off the table, I like the character but everyone and their mother uses her as a love interest. I also won't use Luna, simply because I'm not entirely confident that I could properly write her character. And Ginny is staying with Harry. I also don't write poly so please don't suggest it.
