The Runaway Target

Chapter 1:

Nikolai was driving in his black Range Rover sport with his husband Jay, his best friend Indigo and their son Rhodes towards the new home he bought for his family to have a fresh start in the West Brook. The weather in Gold Coast was really windy for some reason while Nikolai was heading towards his family's new home—then they saw someone; Kade Sharpe with his brother Zayden. Nikolai glared at the two guys "huh? Aren't the pair of them wanted by police and on the run???" He questioned while staring at him "yeah well Kade's wanted but his brother is working with him so he doesn't end up in prison. But we all know how that ends." Indigo  sighed, trying not to look at them. Nikolai continued driving down the highway so he could get closer to his new house...then Kade jumped in front of the car, Nikolai swerved around Kade so he didn't hit him with his car. Then his brother followed the same thing Kade did, jumping in front of the car "you seeing this Indigo and Jay?? One of you will record  it and post the video on social media." He demanded and Jay nodded while he grabbed his phone out and started recording.  Kade lunged straight towards Nikolai's car and jumped onto the roof, while Nikolai was trying not to murder Kade and his brother, he was panicking every second he was driving while Kade was on top of the roof—he jumped off the car and pulled his gun out and started firing.

Nikolai decided to floor it down the highway so he could escape from Kade while Jay, Indigo and Rhodes were screaming for their lives. Rhodes was screaming his lungs out and crying because he was afraid, "son it's gonna be okay I'll get us out of here hold on." He reassured Rhodes while Jay and Indigo were holding his hand and started tickling him. After they got off the long highway, Nikolai finally reached his family's new home and started staring at it "this is the new chapter of our lives it better be a good one"  Jay and Indigo both sighed, Nikolai pulled the car over, put his hand on Jay's lap and kissed him "remember this house was the one we first moved to as a temporary place to stay for a while. It's gonna be okay. I promise if anyone hurts us, they'll have to deal with me." He said while all of them got out of the car and entered their new home "wait, you never told me you've lived here before. Why did you and Jay move from this house? It looks so luxurious and pretty, living on the West Brook makes this house so better." Indigo questioned both Nikolai and Jay waiting for one of them to respond,

I was working as a private investigator for a bit after I was done working as a police officer. So I became an easy target for criminals and gangs." Nikolai said, trying not to have flashbacks of what happened when they first moved into this house.
