I could barely believe what I was looking at. In the center of the room, there was a large bed with silk sheets. I glided through the room, curiosity dragging me through the decorations lining the wall. One wall was filled with different paddles and floggers, all of which had different shapes and sizes. I turned my attention to the wall directly across from it. The shelves lining the wall were filled with all sorts of toys. I could feel that desire was flooding into my system.
So this is what he has been hiding here? Why would he need this in his office building? I knew he was keeping secrets, but I never would have thought it would be something like this.
I found a flat wooden paddle and picked it off the wall, something about feeling the smooth varnish wood across my hand excited me. As I continued to walk through the room, exploring the adornments hanging off the wall, I made my way toward the bed. The mattress was completely lined in silk and I could spot restraints peaking out from the headboard. I ran my hand across the smooth silk. I rounded my way to the restraints and carefully inspected them, the belting was undone, ready to be used.
None of the stuff in this room had ever piqued my interest. To be frank, I tended to be the more dominant one in a relationship.
As I looked around the room, I thought of all the possibilities the wall contained. The mere thought of it ignited a warmth from within me. Every day, all day, I make decisions. The thought of not having to make decisions, even for just a minute seemed like a dream.
I placed the paddle back onto the wall, taking in the unfamiliar scenery. Suddenly, I heard my phone go off from the other room. I quickly walked out of the room, taking one last look before leaving to make sure everything was how I found it. I turned off the lights before quietly closing the heavy door behind me and made my way back to the office.
I looked at my phone to see a text from Sosa.
We just got to Kay's let me know what happens.
Sosa was the sibling I wish I always had. Growing up, it was just me and my father, so having Sosa around always helped. I hated that things got to this point, but I knew it was just a matter of time. All I had to do now was convince Santiago to help us and we could finally start to grow.
I kept flipping through the stack of paperwork on my desk. Everything was mundane business forms. From payroll receipts to inventory, there wasn't anything that piqued my interest. It wasn't until I reached the bottom of the stack that I found something out of the ordinary. It was a work order. Santiago had told me to take all of the papers and transfer them into his system, but this paper didn't have a spot. There was no name at the top, just an address to a location in Spain. There was a dollar amount, total, but no description of the items or services that were received. I studied the paper trying to make sense of it before I heard the elevator door open and the click of shoes pass down the hall.
I tried to bury the paper back under the stack while still listening to the footsteps growing closer and closer. At one point, they stopped altogether, just about where Santiago's secret room was.
I could feel my heart race, for a moment it felt like my heart was about to beat out my chest.
I heard him enter the room and I didn't dare look up from my desk. The evenly timed clicks of his dark leather shoes made their way across the stone floor. Suddenly, the sun that was shining through the large window was shadowed by his large stature. The seductive scent of his cologne filled the air.
With great hesitation, I peered up from the computer on my desk and saw him sternly place a cup of coffee onto the wooden desk. When I finally reached his face, his golden green eyes seemed as if they had darkened.
"I wasn't sure if you wanted cream or sugar."
He kept his eyes locked on mine as if he were searching for an answer I did not know if I had.
"Thank you."
I gave him a timid smile and took a sip of the coffee. Although I didn't usually drink coffee black, this coffee was slightly sweet and rich on its own.
I looked back at the papers I had on my desk. Before too long I heard him walk back to his desk and sit down in the large office chair.
Before I even realized it, the day had already flown by. Although office work and transcribing business documents may seem mundane to some, I enjoyed it. Every question had one answer. If there was one thing that made me qualified to run a cartel, it was my knowledge of running a business.
I gathered my things and was about to leave. I grabbed the stack of papers and made my way to Santiago's desk. He was steadily typing on his computer. I didn't want to bother him so I set the stack on his desk. The sound of the papers hitting the wood must have broken his concentration. He looked up at me, waiting for me to talk.
"I moved everything to your files. There were a couple of things I wasn't sure about, so I left them out."
I tried to put on an innocent smile as I handed him the suspicious invoices and work orders I came across a cross.
As if the papers would fall apart if he grabbed them to swiftly, he gently took the papers from me and looked the over.
"hmm..."
He said nothing as he set the papers on his desk. I turned back towards my desk to grab my belongings. I could feel his green eyes follow me all the way back. I quickly picked up my stuff and made my way to the door before his authoritative voice stopped me in my path.
"Take a seat Miss.Buratta."
