"We were just kids, Worthy. Play pretend weddings, kissing under a lamp because it looked like a moon" Shadow said, her heart heavy. It brought so many feelings, thinking of then. She knew who she was, she was confident, she was happy. Where did it all go?

"But our love was real" Worthy replied, sparks in his eager eyes. He hadn't aged, not inside. Perhaps he had to shave the hair off his chin in the mornings, but he was still the kid she fell in love with all those years ago. Before all this.

"Was" She said, looking to meet his eyes. His cat eyes. She couldn't read his face, the masks blocked each other from seeing more than those cat eyes. He never took his mask off, not anymore.

"right....was" He looked down, kicking his feet in the dirt on the floor. She stood up. She couldn't take it. Back then she'd have been in his arms by now, she'd have seen his face by now.

"Stead asked to see me..." she said, waiting for a reply. The silence hurt more than anything he could have said. She reached for the door handle, and pulled the door open with a squeak.

"I saved you" Worthy muttered, only audible over the squeak by Shadows heightened cat ears. She stopped, standing there in the door. Unsure what to do. She took a step into the hall, pretending she hadn't heard a thing. But as she walked away, her heart grew heavier and heavier. He was the only reason she was standing here right now. He was the only one who had bothered to check for her body, the only one who had hope she could live. Her stomach twisted. She still loved him. She was so lost in thinking about him - about all they did together, back when the torch had just been built - she didn't notice Jey walking out of the door to her left. Thud. She walked right into the assassin.

"Polite" Jey said, looking down at Shadow. Her pin-straight jet-black hair like a knife against Shadows skin.

"Sorry, I was off in my own world" fear ran through Shadows veins, her claws extended automatically.

"You trying to start a fight?" Jey asked, raising an eyebrow.

"You know I wouldn't fight you" she said, scared Jey'd take a swipe at her anyway.

"Yeah, I'd win too easily. But it would be a good fight" Jey said, a smirk on her pale lips.

"Oh! Uh, hey" Worthys voice came from behind Shadow. "I thought you'd have walked further down the corridor by now" he added, rather helplessly.

"Oh, hey idiot" Jey said, turning to walk away.

"He's not an idiot, Jey, come on" Shadow said, before she could think.

"I'm not?" Worthy said, his voice a mix of confusion and surprise.

"No, well, there was the time you said I was nobody because nobody is perfect, and the time you stabbed yourself with your own claw and ended up loosing the fucking wildcats claw, and the time you told Meilin....okay maybe you are an idiot"

"But a lovable idiot?" The joking phrase hit Shadow like a knife. Memories flashing through her mind. Every time she'd called him a lovable idiot. Her idiot. She met his eyes, the hopeful sparkle that was so uniquely his still glittering there.

"okay, your a lovable idiot"

"ugh, you two make me sick" Jey said, walking away. The redcloackes waited in silence until she was gone.

"thanks, Ella" Worthy broke the silence. Ella. Shadow had almost forgotten that was even her name. It felt so strange to be called that. So many unknown feelings washed over her like a waterfall with no knowledge of where it started or where it would end. Nostalgia, mostly. The life she couldn't forget, the person she no longer was. How far things had changed, how long ago that all happened. "Shadow! Shadow. I- I mean Shadow" Worthy flustered, "I'm sorry" he hung his head once more. Shadow smiled, though he couldn't see it.

"It's okay...Devon" She elbowed him.

"Ow!" He laughed, playfully pushing her in retaliation.

"Hey! I thought you liked me!" Shadow joked. She'd missed joking around with her idiot. Well, he wasn't hers anymore. But he was once. Worthy didn't respond, just looked at her. "What?" She asked, moving towards him. He still stayed quiet. "Worthy, are you okay?" She asked in a more serious voice, as she placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm fine, sorry" He said, his eyes moving to her hand. Shadow felt the electricity she hadn't felt in a long time. An electricity she'd missed. She placed her other hand on his other shoulder, testing to see if she could get more of this drug like electricity. She could.

"You sure?" He placed his hand on top of hers, and purred a little.

"I've missed you" Shadow gave in and pulled the man into a tight hug. The electricity taking over her body, filling her heart with joy while making it work overtime.

"Someone's gonna see us" Worthy whispered.

"Race you back to my room?" She suggested. He didn't even hesitate, he took off flying down the cidoor. She laughed, and ran off after him. It was like they were kids again, like the world didn't matter. She closed her door behind her, that squeak still louder than Worthys voice, but she was listening to him this time.

"Jolts gonna kill me when I tell him about this"

"Don't tell him then" Shadow said, sitting down next to him on her bed.

"Don't act like your not gonna tell Meilin and Tasha" she laughed. He removed his mask. Time slowed as he turned to face her. He was just as handsome as she remembered. His perfect skin, floofy hair, and red lips. She removed her own mask, and placed her hand on his cheek. They stared into each others faces for a minute, a moment that time could not count. She'd missed his goofy smile. Missed his whole handsome face. It felt so good to see it again. He kissed her wrist, the moved her hand to his hips. She pulled him closer to her, the electricity taking over her body. They closed their eyes. That moment was only for them. Not something that could be described, just an action and a feeling so strong and so beautiful.

"Fuck"

"What?"

"Tashas definitely going to tell Dawson about this"
