Friday, December 15,
Houston, 4:45pm.

"mommyyyy" Nalani said coming down the stairs with her ipad in hand.

"yes Tinka?" Fatima responded sitting on the couch scrolling through instagram.

reaching the couch she sat down next to her mother, "can we go to the bakery please?"

"Lani, mommy is tired, we can go tomorrow"

"abuelo tell mommy yes" she said to her ipad which had her grandfather on facetime. she then damn near shoved it into Fatima's face.

"go ahead and bring her by, and she can go home with me i know you're tired."

"please mommy?" Nalani said with the cutest face.

Fatima couldn't help but smile, "you're so cute, fine we'll go"

"yes!" Nalani said before kissing her mother's cheek then running back upstairs.

Fatima got up, put her shoes and jacket on, grabbed her purse and keys as Nalani was coming back downstairs dressed and ready. They got in the car and made their wait to the bakery.

Wilson Bakery.

After parking, Nalani damn near jumped out of the car and ran into the bakery with Fatima trailing behind.

"hola abuelo!" Nalani said greeting Richard who was behind the counter.

"hola mi chica favorita" Richard replied picking her up and placing a kiss on her cheek.

"what about me huh?" Fatima said now walking in.

"you're my second favorite girl"

"i was born first"

"but im me, of course im his favorite" Nalani said and they all laughed.

"you want to help me serve?" Richard said to Nalani putting her down.

"you got some money?"

"she's definitely your child, you know i'll pay you"

"good, because i don't do free labor"

Fatima high fived Nalani, "that's right Tinka"

"go put your jacket in the back and get your apron too"

"okay!" Nalani ran off to the back.

"how you doing babygirl?" Richard hugged Fatima

"i'm okay just tired"

"go ahead and sit down, the cake is almost ready"

"you made mama's cake?"

"yep, i got you go sit"

as Richard went to the back, Fatima went and sat at her normal table by the window. She was facing the stage where there was a live band playing jazz music. Live music was mandatory when her parents opened the bakery because they LOVED live music.

"here's your cake!" Nalani said handing a man a plate that was sitting at a table to the right of Fatima.

"thank you young lady" he said back with a smile.

"you're welcome, would you like anything else?" Nalani asked.

"no thank you"

"my name is Nalani, what's your name?"

"My name is Zachary, you can call me Zac"

"okay Mr. Zac, i like your bracelet"

"thank you"
