Larry and Piccolo were watching the snow from the living room window. Thousands of small flakes gently falling to the earth. It was a Friday morning, however, due to the snow, Piccolo's preschool was closed. And as a consequence of the snow, the pipes in Larry's school had frozen and burst, causing the school to close. The only other person in the living room was Dee. He also wasn't in school, but in his case, there was a flu outbreak at his school. Dee was sitting on the couch, reading a blue book. On the cover of the book was an illustration of a beautiful woman dressed in fur with a crown on her head.
Larry and Piccolo saw Dee peacefully reading the book, they wanted to know what he was reading. So, they walked over to him and waited for him to acknowledge them. He looked up at them. "Everything alright?" Dee said to the two. "What book is that, Dee?" Piccolo asked. Dee showed the cover of the book to the kids. "The Ice Maiden!" He replied. Larry and Piccolo oohed. "What's it about?" Larry asked. "It's about a little girl named Glenda who has to go on an adventure to save her best friend Kyle from The Ice Maiden." Dee replied. Larry and Piccolo wanted Dee to read the book to them. "Well..." Dee replied. "Okay, I could read to you the paragraph I'm on." Dee reopened the book and started reading aloud to Larry and Piccolo, who both sat down on the carpet.
"The Queen flies where the snow is thickest, she's the biggest of them all, but she never lies down with the rest. No, when the wind dies, she returns to the black cloud. Many a winter night, she peeps in through people's windows and they become covered in icy, floral patterns."
Before Dee could go on to the next paragraph, he got a call from his crossover friend, Jon, on his green Crossover Watch, a device he, Jon, and his other crossover friends use to communicate. Dee closed the book, got off the couch, and addressed Larry and Piccolo. "I'm afraid that'll be it for today. I must take this call." Dee then walked to another room. "I hope this isn't about a cyborg stealing Christmas decorations again."
Larry and Piccolo sat there, not sure what to do now. Piccolo sat up. "I think I'll continue watching the snow." Piccolo told Larry. She whipped around and walked back over to the window. Out of curiosity, Larry went over to Dee's book. He picked it up, and opened it, slowly. Just as Larry opened the book, a swirl of snow, ice crystals, and fog swirled over the pages. "What the..." Larry breathed. Just then, a beautiful woman rose from the snowy fog, causing Larry to drop the book in surprise. The woman opened her eyes, there was neither peace nor rest in her stare. Larry looked at the woman, flabbergasted. Piccolo's back was turned the whole time, a very foolish mistake.
The woman looked at Larry for a few seconds, he did the same as her. And before Larry had any time to speak, the woman grabbed him and tried to drag Larry inside the book. "Piccolo! Help!" He screamed. Piccolo finally turned around. She screamed in horror when she saw the woman try to drag Larry inside the book. She ran as fast as lightning to Larry's aid. She grabbed his hand and engaged in a tug-of-war with the woman. "Let go of my friend, lady!" Piccolo shouted, the woman did not react. The two continued to struggle, until the woman gave one mighty tug, and caused her, Piccolo, and Larry to fall inside the book. The book closed after they all fell through it.
