Confusion erupts in my mind as I see daddy taking out the big suitcases from way behind the closet. My little mind thinks of all the possibilities this situation could end in, but I never come to one conclusion. The only one that sits in my mind is the one I fear the most.
"Daddy?" My voice comes out almost as a whisper, and I'm not even sure if my dad heard me but my question is answered when he replies, "Yes, darling?" Four big suitcases stand in front of him, as if they were a barrier between us, all almost as tall as me. "What're you doing with all those bags?" Daddy stays silent for a while before he lets out a deep breath and rounds the suitcases, and drops to my level, balancing on his toes.
"This might be very big news for you darling, but you don't have to be afraid of it, okay? It's going to be good for us. Very good in fact. You'll get to be in a new school and make new friends and you'll even have your own room! Doesn't that sound exciting?" The gears in my mind clicked. My worst fear came true. I try to mute out my dad's next few sentences by shutting my eyes tight and trying to silence his words, but it's of no use. I hear every single word clearly as he says, "We're moving, Sash."
