A young girl stood in her kitchen, washing the dishes. The sound of running water filled her ears, staring at the wall she was lost in her own thoughts. Her mind was filled with endless chatter of all the things she has to do, feeling the familiar feeling of anxiety grip her heart. The girl tried breathing slowly, but the choking feeling refused to leave. Hiccuping slightly she bit her nails waiting for the wave of anxiety to pass.

"Amber? Are you okay?" The girl's boyfriend's voice pierce through the storm clouds in her mind.

Turning to look at him she faced him and looked into his bright green eyes that were filled with concern. "Yes Leo, I am fine, I just got lost in my head."

Leo slowly walked up to Amber and put his hands on her shoulder. "Are you sure that's all?"

Amber looked away not knowing what to say to her highschool sweetheart even though they have been dating for five years, it's hard to talk about stuff like this. Leo placed a finger under her chin turning "Hey look at me."

Looking back into his eyes she took a deep breath. "I just can't relax, I feel like the walls are closing in on me."

Leo turned the sink off. "Come on, we are going to bed, the dishes can wait."

Not wanting to give her any time to argue, Leo scooped Amber into his arms and carried her into their bedroom. Dropping her on the bed. "Get comfy, or read a book. I am going to make sure all the doors are locked. I will be right back." Leo said while kissing her on the head.

Amber watched as Leo walked out of the room and smiled. Reaching for her nightstand she grabbed her book she had been reading and got lost in the words. Leaving this world behind and entering the world of ink and paper.

Her escape was cut shut when the lights suddenly went out. Looking up she saw nothing but darkness. "Leo?"  she called, standing up slowly. The only sound she heard was the sound of scuffling and a strangled groan.

"Leo?" she called again, turning on her flashlight she walked to the doorway. "Baby?"

As Amber pointed her flashlight in the doorway her boyfriend stood there with a knife in his neck blood pooling down to his shirt. He made a gurgling sound as blood came out of his mouth. Bringing her hands to her mouth she let out a scream as his body landed at her feet.

Suddenly a dark shadow came out of nowhere and grabbed her by the throat and choked her. Amber desperately grabbed at the hands trying to push them away, her lungs begging for air, but no relief came. Feeling like her head was about to explode everything went black.

For what seemed like forever she was in darkness. Suddenly her ears started to hear soft romantic music. Opening her eyes expecting it to be a bad dream. Little did she know her nightmare was just beginning. Amber blinked slowly, her eyes were met with her boyfriend's dull never blinking eyes. She knew that this was not a dream, the love of her life was dead. Looking down she saw she was tied up. Amber blinked the tears away trying to be strong.

"Why did you do this Kelly? Do you see what you made me do?" The man who choked her grabbed Leo's hair and pulled his head up.

"My name is not Kelly! And don't you touch him!"

"You swore you would love me forever!" The man's voice was filled with so much insanity, so much anger. Amber dare not utter a word.

"You broke my heart Kelly, so now I'll take yours."

Amber felt her heart stop. "My name is not Kelly! You have to believe me! I don't even know you, please listen to me! My name is Amber."

Her cries fell on deaf ears as the man came closer to her holding a knife. "Please! You don't have to do this!" She cried out while sobbing.

The man stabbed Amber in the gut, her stomach exploded with pain and burning. Gasping as he pulled out the knife she felt her warm blood flowing down her stomach like a river. Plunging the knife in again and again, Amber didn't feel pain after the third stab, she could still hear the sound of the knife coming down on her, even though it was muffled. Amber slowly felt herself slip away into sleep, but this sleep she will never wake up from.
