"You better still have those eyes closed Kelly!" A man laughed as he led a girl with blonde hair into their new apartment. It was meant to be a surprise for her birthday. Kelly has been struggling looking for an apartment, he found one at a reasonable price.
"Dave! Come on, tell me what the surprise is!" Kelly began feeling more impatient by the second.
"Hold on just a few more seconds." he laughed at his girlfriend's antics of childlike impatience.
Kelly smiled, feeling more excited by the second.
"Alright birthday girl ready?"
"As I'll ever be!"
Dave smiled and removed the blindfold from her eyes. "Surprise!"
Kelly looked around eyes wide. "Wait David." she paused not knowing what to say. "Is this for me?"
"Yes! I found it at a reasonable price! I know you have been looking for a new apartment so Happy birthday!"
Kelly jumped into his arms and kissed him. "Oh, thank you!"
"Go on, look around the apartment. I have one of your friends getting your stuff for you, so you don't have to worry about anything. You just relax for your birthday. I'm just going to run to the store really quick."
"Oh baby! You are the best!" Kelly kissed him one last time and walked around the apartment. Kelly could not place it but the place looked so familiar to her.
Kelly walked into the bedroom looking out the window and her eyes saw a man with a mask just standing there looking up at her window. Kelly's heart began to race, who was that man? Staring at the man as if she was stuck in some kind of trance, he raised his hands and made a heart motion to her. Kelly backed away from the window and shut her curtains.
Suddenly the water in the bathroom turned on, Kelly walked slowly to the bathroom, heart beating wildly.
"Who is there?" Kelly spoke with a shaky voice.
There was not a soul in sight, the only thing Kelly could see was the growing steam in the bathroom, it looked like thick fog during a rainy day. Reaching for an object she hit the shower curtain to see if there was a person standing there ready to kill her.
Still there was no sign of anyone else. She opened the shower curtain and there was no one there. Breathing a sigh of relief as she reached and turned the water off.
"Dave! That was not funny!" she shouted ready to walk out of the bathroom to ask why he did that. Before she could reach the door, the bathroom slammed shut. "Dave!" she screamed trying to open the bathroom door. Suddenly the shower and the sink turned on causing even more steam o spill into the room. Kelly began to scream and bang on the door.
"HELP ME PLESE!" she cried desperately. Kelly rushed to the window but could not open it. Suddenly she heard a squeaking sound. It's the sound you would hear when the windshield wipers are rubbing against the window to clear the rain or snow away. Turning to look at the mirror she read the words.
"GET OUT!"
As she read those words the lights started to flicker rapidly. Kelly slid to the floor covering her eyes hoping it would stop soon. The water turned off and the lights stopped flickering, uncovering her eyes and she looked around for any sort of explanation to what just happened. But there seemed to be not a soul there, or so she thought. Getting to her feet she slowly walked to the door, as she reached for the doorknob, whispers began to flood into her hearing, Kelly could not make out what the whispers were saying. Before she had any time to react, she felt a cold hand grab her shoulders and pull her back. Kelly screamed as she fell to the floor.
Kelly could not see anyone there, no one was standing over her. How was that possible? She thought to herself. Her thoughts were cut short when someone opened a door, it was a man she never met before.
"Miss, are you okay?"
Looking at him fearfully, "Why are you in my apartment!?" she asked, getting to her feet.
"My name is Jason, I am your neighbor, I heard you screaming and considering what happened to the last person who lived here I decided I should check it out."
"Why, what happened here?"
"How do you not know what happened here? Isn't it law that the seller has to tell you about a death that occurred in this place?"
"I didn't purchase it; my boyfriend didn't tell me someone died. How did they die?"
"Huh, God must have a sense of humor, the last people who lived here a few months ago were a couple who lived here were tragically murdered. I can't believe they sold it so quickly, I felt like they should have waited longer." His voice was a mix of pain and bitterness.
Feeling her blood turn to ice, "How did they die?"
Looking into her eyes, staring at her very soul. "Ironically enough, they were a couple, the boyfriend, his name was Leo, a good guy, and his girlfriend, Amber, was very sweet. They were high school sweethearts. Leo was going to ask her to marry him. He never got the chance. anyway," he paused for a minute, shaking his head. "Luke was stabbed in the throat, his girlfriend Amber was stabbed in the gut, the sicko also took her heart. Which still has not been found."
"Do the cops know why the sicko did this?"
"They said it's a crime of passion, which they don't understand. Luke was her only boyfriend. They were dating since high school."
"Maybe she cheated?" Kelly asked shrugging her shoulders.
"She wasn't like that." Jason seemed upset about the notion that Amber would cheat. "She was practically shut in; she never saw anybody."
Kelly frowned at this because she didn't know how to respond to what he was saying to her. "You two must have been close."
The man's eyes sadden, "we have been friends since the third grade. She was like a sister to me."
"I am sorry for your loss."
"Tha-" Jason was cut off by a voice."What is going on here?" said a gruff voice laced with annoyance.
"Dave, this is Jason, he is my neighbor. He was just coming to say hello."
Dave stood there not saying a word. His dark chocolate eyes seemed to darken even more; his eyes laced with jealousy.
He grabs Kelly's hand harshly "that better be all."
Kelly looked at Dave "what has gotten into you?"
Kelly rips her hand away and looks at him with annoyance and frustration.
"Uh- I really should get going..."
Jason slowly backed out of the apartment back into his own "what is that guys deal?"
Kelly looked at Dave "Babe, you know I only have eyes for you."
Dave doesn't answer he shrugs her off and goes to the living room and sits on the couch putting on the TV. Kelly looks on and sees the ghost of women bleeding from her mouth glaring in her direction. Kelly knew in that moment something did not want her here.
