A/N: Welcome to the intro of I Need an Heir. We're getting the intro between Iris and Tommy outta the way so we can get to the good shit. Enjoy!

*Iris POV*

"It's cold as a bitch out here." I complained for the tenth time in the last half hour. "Why couldn't we be sent to Los Angeles?"

"Patronne (Boss lady), we've been here for six months-"

"Not enough time to get used to this white shit on the ground." My 'Shadow' chuckled at the interruption and continued to go through the list of buildings we will be viewing today.

"Cold weather aside. How do you like this fit for the new distillery?" Anton aka my Shadow held his hand out to help me out of the armored escalade.

"Mignon (Cute). Doesn't look like it'll take much money to upgrade it to our liking considerin' we have to upgrade the newly purchased lounge as well." I was attempting to go over the mental checklist in my head, but we had been looking for a distillery and lounge location for three months and we just only found the lounge location.

"Is this location going to be a problem?" Anton grumbled while looking around at the wandering population. I caught the look on his face out of the corner of my eye; his squinted blue eyes zeroing in on what could be a threat.

"Chicago is a problem in general. No matter where we set up we'll be on someone's territory. At least here we're not as far North and Diamond's territory is only a stone toss away. The Flynn's aren't as strong as they used to be. We'll have something to consider iif the Serbians tell us to move or if Dublin is called in." I quietly explained hoping to alleviate the tension building in his body. I watched as he took a deep breath and exhaled, a plume of visible air escaping his full lips. "We need available housing for our soldiers that will be working at the distillery and lounge, and housing that they will actually enjoy. Boujee hoes." I joked only being half serious. Loyalty only came to those that took care of their people. My family ruled with 80% respect and 20% fear.

"Alright. I won't question you again." Anton said, giving me his full attention and I waved him off.

"Your advice is always welcome." I gave him a smile which he returned in kind. "I like it." I said while putting my hands on my wide hips.

"You haven't even been inside, patronne." I could hear the annoyed lilt in his voice at my rash decision making.

"I thought you said you weren't gonna question me?" I threw back sassily and he sucked his teeth before hurling a sassy comeback right at me.

"You said my advice is welcome." Anton shot back.

"I take it back." I cackled and threw my hands to the building. "This is it. I feel it."

"Mmm. You feel a lot of things. Your brain would be helpful someti-" I flung my hand back, curled in a fist and hit him in the stomach, making him give a huffy laugh. "I will contact the seller tomorrow to gather the necessary documents and to send the proper payment."

"Merveilleuse (Wonderful)! Come, I don't want to be late for breakfast." Anton clicked his tongue again knowing that I was an hour and a half late already. My momma always said I'd be late for my own funeral.

"Do you not own a clock? Your damn phone is always glued to your hand." Diamond chastised me after giving a nod to Anton who took up his usual stance facing the door and behind Diamond's seat so he wouldn't block the aisle.

I put my phone down, so I wouldn't prove his point. "Why you buggin'?" I questioned taking up the seat across from him as usual. I was amazing at reading body language and hidden ques to someone's behavior or mood. Diamond was radiating tense energy, but I didn't even need to further analyze his overall aura to see that.
