...

a cooled, midnight breeze swept across the still village. every pod was silent, the only noise was the whistle of crickets making their nightly rounds—nothing of that day's events showed. every na'vi was sound asleep; or so it seemed.

ao'nung—the chief's, now, disappointment of a son—lay wide awake. he stared at the woven ceiling of the marui pod, waiting. he listened in on the faint snores of his sleeping family, making sure they were all long gone.

silent and gracefully, he lifted himself from his cot and swung his legs over the side. he stopped and listened. whilst perking his ears to get a more accurate reading, he winced when the base of his right ear stung. there must've been some sort of muscle damage done from that stupid fight.

he lifted his left ear more instead—pointing in different directions. all clear.

continuing, he diligently made his way out of the pod. stopping dead in his tracks again at the entrance—hand positioned on the inside wall next to him—he turned his head to look over his shoulder, staring at the peacefulness of the pod, it looked so normal as compared to what happened after the fight, but only ao'nung knew his consequences. without hesitation, he trotted off, knowing exactly where he was to be.

the atmosphere was calm and clear. the sound of waves clashing tiredly and the noisy crickets soothed the metkayina as he took his time to walk his designated path: walking just a little ways from the village of awa'atlu, as the final destination was just behind the bushes.

the ocean waves casted a blue frost over everything, giving a specific mood ao'nung couldn't quite pinpoint yet.

just as he crossed behind the row of lush bushes, a silhouette caught his eye: though he was not at all surprised.

there—sitting with his legs pulled close to his stomach. his slim, forest-built tail flicking expectedly—the omatikaya looked almost like he was at home. but this wasn't his home at all. ao'nung felt a ping of guilt, he could never imagine living in the situation the sully's had been through.

the metkayina continued rather gracefully towards the dark blue na'vi until he was crouched right beside him—ao'nung's whole body facing the omatikaya, who didn't even seem to notice his close presence, he seemed to lost in the scenic view.

' ' teyam~ ' '

ao'nung trailed out in a gentle, raspy voice: he was all talked out from his conversation with his father, the olo'eyktan. the metkayina lifted his hand up to neteyam's chin, gingerly turning it towards him to gain the full attention of the boy: who was now pleasantly surprised.

' ' hi. ' '

neteyam breathed out, a smile curling onto his lips—sending a long shiver down the metkayina's spine as he matched his paramour.

as ao'nung took the time to scan his crystal blue orbs across neteyam's face, he couldn't help help mentally frown at the cuts and bruises he and his friends had left behind.

' ' i really got you good. didnt i? ' '

the metkayina stated, drawing his hand up towards neteyam's face and holding his chin carefully. ao'nung's eyes met the ugly wound on the forest na'vi's corner lip.
