It was all so bright...it was as if the sun grew tired of hiding her light away and decided to make all who embraced her gravitational decent be made to look at nothing but it's entirety. I don't know how long I stood there but after the sun loosened it's grip on me and my eyes could finally adjust I could now do nothing but stare. The once colorful and winding roads of the place only I could dare to call home was now almost unrecognizable. The trees were bare, houses torn down and wore rust like it was a model on a pamphlet I'd receive at my door. The very thought of my door took over my mind and my head jerked in the direction of my home...only to be met with a shabby, Broken down, rusted over sad excuse for shelter. It took a while but after a while I could finally get a grip on myself, and a breath of the now contaminated air. I weave my way slowly through the bones of my neighbors and their kids. Saying their names under my breath each time I passed over a new body.

"Mr. Parker"...

"Johnny"...

"Mrs. Parker"...

"Mrs. Donalds"...

"Mary"...

"Mrs. Smith"

"Mr. Donalds"...

It was a massacre I stare down all of my fallen neighbors who were condemned to a death so fast and so cruel that they didn't have the time to say goodbye. My eyes eventually landed on the men in military fatigues and I couldn't help but wonder. "Did they know?"
