When Elizabeth had moved back to Mystic Falls to escape her past of death, she had never expected that he'd chase her. That death could hold such a vengeance that he'd chase her to the ends of the earth until she had taken her last breath. But then again death was a bitch, and he was sick of her escaping his grasp. Fortunately for Death, that day would come sooner than either of them expected. What was strange was that Elizabeth had never expected to feel so at peace in the cold arms at the end of the world.

Elizabeth woke in a sweat, shaking the face that she couldn't place. He'd haunted her all her life, sticking to her like her own shadow. The difference was that when night fell unlike her shadow that retreated to blend into the darkness, his became known feeding on her helplessness. On the same day every month she had the same dream, and for the next month the calculating eyes of the vampire would follow her burned into the back of her eyelids, it felt as though she had stared at a bright light for to long and no matter how many times she blinked it wouldn't leave.

"Can I leave" she asked the nurse frustrated, she was tired of being stuck in hospital when nothing was wrong with her.

"You had a serious crash, your lucky your not more injured" the nurse said carefully shining a light in her eyes to make sure she had no concussion

"I don't feel very lucky right now" she muttered frustrated

Since her parents had been murdered she had never felt comfortable in hospitals. She had been whisked away to live with a grandmother she had never known she'd had. Who turned out to be crazy and a witch. When she had died it was like her world had fallen apart, everyone she loved she lost and she had only ever loved three people. Now she felt herself spinning trying to navigate her magic and being a werewolf when she had no one to guide her.

"Your all clear, I'll get your items and discharge you" the nurse smiled squeezing her shoulder

Elizabeth changed as quickly as she could wanting to be anywhere but the hospital. Only she had nowhere to go, her childhood home had been sold, and she had no money to her name. It seemed once again she would be living in her car.

"Elena" she stared at the girl who had once been her best friend. She knew eventually she would see her old friends but she hadn't expected to see them so soon "what are you doing here"

"I was checking on Caroline" she smiled no recognition in her eyes despite how intensely she was staring at her "Are you okay, what are you doing here"

"I crashed my car, did you hear that noise last night it felt like the whole town went mad" She assumed from how Elena smiled she had caught up on who she was

"A noise, I didn't hear anything" Elena looked at her curiously "Do you want to go get a drink"

Elizabeth decided that between her car and spending a night with an old friend, a drink was better.

"Sure but your buying" Elizabeth nudged feeling a shock that she hadn't felt often. Whoever this was wasn't Elena "Actually I have to go, I just got in town and I have a few things to do"

"I think it's better if you come and have a drink with me" she stared into her eyes trying to compel her. Her grandmother had told her about a dangerous doppelganger but she had never expected she would look like Elena.

"And I think it's better if you leave" she warned glaring at the vampire that could mean nothing but danger

The vampire looked at her with a grin her aura changing "If you didn't look like my daughter I would rip out your throat right now"

"I take that as a compliment" Elizabeth gritted her teeth watching as she turned her back

She hated vampires, she had been trained her entire life to hunt and kill them. Then one had murdered her parents and taken away her childhood. Not that she could consider it a childhood, she had been forced to hide who she was and trained as a weapon. Magic wasn't allowed it was dangerous and unnatural, no one was ever meant to know what she could do. In a way she was grateful the vampire had ended that part of her life, but she had loved her parents. It was a bitter sweet feeling, even now.
