Let's talk about binder safety, things to consider when getting a binder, binder companies, and alternatives to binding :)
Binder safety:
*Only wear your binder for 8-10 hours
*Take days off from binding
*Make sure to get your correct size
*NEVER double bind
*Get a binder from a reputable company
*NEVER BIND WITH BANDAGES/DUCT TAPE
*NEVER SLEEP IN YOUR BINDER
*NEVER EXERCISE IN YOUR BINDER
* Always stretch after taking it of
*NEVER swim in your binder
*If you feel any pain take it off immediatelyI strongly suggest keeping a sports bra with you if you're planning on wearing it for a long period of time in case you need to change
Things to consider when getting a binder:
-Color (ex: if you wear a lot of white, you do not want to get a black binder)
-If you want a tank top style (can bind better for some, but it is way warmer) or half top style
-what company you want to buy from
-if you want a zipper (be incredibly careful with this, however zippers can make it a lot easier to get on and off especially for those with mobility issues)
- Size
Binder companies:
(The specifics on the brands have come from what I've heard from others, the only company I have personal experience with is wonabobi)Gc2b: One of the most well-known binder companies, although I have heard that their quality has declined recently
Spectrum: very good reviews from those with larger chests, however is quite uncomfortable
Fytist: Don't have specifics, however I've heard good things
For them: many say it's just a glorified sports bra and not worth your money
Wonabobi: where my personal binder is from, highly suggest them however their sizing is very strange I would definitely suggest getting way bigger than you think you need
Alternatives to binding:
-layers
-sports bra with one of those tank tops that has a built-in shelf bra (works surprisingly well)
-layering sports bras
-sports bra down a sizeRemember you don't have to bind or be flat to be valid 💞💞💞
