He stared across at him from his parked car.
It was a busy night and normally he would have missed him on the busy bridge, but as he pulled up at the lights something about the manboy caught his attention. He watched him as he took of his shoes and lent against the bridge railing looking down. Before he knew it he had pulled his car over and was walking towards the man. He stopped next to him and looked down as well.
"Tough day?" He said with a smile. Silence.
"You could say so" the man replied after a while. Silence again.
"You know, you shouldn't do it. I don't know what has happened to you or how you ended up here but I'm telling you It'll get better. I know it was only two years ago I was stood where you are now." He burst out. The man looked at him for a long time, as if studying every inch of him for scars of his past.
"Pink." He said.
"What?"
"Your jacket."
He smiled and took it off, passing it to the man who was shivering.
"Thanks." He whispered. "Who's Lucy?"
"What? Oh that's me, it's short for Lucifer." He confessed.
"Well that's ironic, Satan has come to save me from hell." He chuckled "My names Jazz, well Jasper really but only my parents ever called me that..." Lucy stared at him for a while, contemplating whether or not he should ask.
"They both died in a car accident a year ago though" Jazz sighed before he made his mind up.
"Oh." Lucy said. "I'm very sorry" He paused for a moment wondering if he should offer Jazz a hug. Jazz, who seemed to have developed a habit of reading Lucy's mind said "Yes I need a hug." And so they stood there for a while, saying nothing as Jazz cried into Lucy's shoulder.
At some point Jazz must have got into Lucy's car and gone home with him as he woke up to find himself on a sofa in an apartment he didn't know. He chuckled as he once again though about how he now owed his life to a man named after Satan. Lucy, he thought, thank you. He looked down and smiled as he noticed he was still wearing Lucy's jacket.
"I love pink" He exclaimed.
