Bilaspur is a district of Himachal Pradesh . It is situated on the foot of the Bandla Hills, along the left bank of river Sutlej which forms picturesque landscape here owing to creation of Govind Sagar Dam on it. It is the first major town after entering Himachal Pradesh on the way to Manali.
TEMPLES OF BILASPUR.
SHRI GOPAL TEMPLE( 120 km away from Bilaspur):
The Gopal temple was made in 1938 by Raja Anand Chand he was there last ruler of Kehiroach dynasty. He was also the first chief commissioner of Bilaspur district the Gopal temple is located in the foot of Shivalik ranges. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna.
NAINA DEVI TEMPLE(69 km away from Bilaspur)The temple sites on the top of hills overlooking the sacred Sikh pilgrim of Anandpur Sahib it is on one side of Govind Sagar. This is the Shakti peeth where the eyes of goddess sati allegedly fall.
The temple is made by Raja Veer Chand Chandel he was the founder of Bilaspur.
The temple is also known as mahishapeeth because of its association with the legend mahishasur was bestowed with boon and immortality by Brahma on consideration he could only be vanished by a woman.When the demon became more powerful and become terror to Dewas who in order to save themselves combine their power to create a Devi powerful enough to defeat mahishasur therefore the temple is also known as mahesha peeth.
