"Who wants to get splashed next?" Kev warns playfully from the edge of the pool.
Brianna bats her eyes and says, "Hmm...let me think, how-AAAAGGGHHH!!!" she squeals and dashes over to my chair, laughing so hard there are tears coming out of her eyes. Or maybe that's just from the bucket of water that was just dumped on her head. It's hard to say.
"Ana, tell him to stahpp!" she shakes her blonde hair out of her eyes in frustration. "Now I'm all wet." she stomps her feet.
Instantly the boys start grinning at what she said. She promptly turns red and snorts, "Oh grow up!" The boys wipe off their smirks and quickly swim away. They know not to further anger an angry blonde. Never turns out too good.
Now she turns her anger on me. "And just what do-ohhhh please don't tell me your laughing at me, Anabelle Richards. Or we will have some problems."
There's no use hiding it. I'm smirking.
Her bright blue eyes get narrower and narrower until she looks like she's crying and I finally give up. "Okay, okay," I raise my hands in surrender. "I'll go yell at them later."
"Thanks, babe," she plucks a watermelon from my fruit salad. "So, how's the party going so far?" She sits on the beach chair next to mine and watches me eagerly.
I calmly pluck a blueberry out of my bowl and examine it in my perfectly manicured hand. "Kinda funny how we've been here for a whole hour and I haven't even met the host," I admit.
"Yeah, yeah, he's inside somewhere," she dismisses my thought with a wave of her hand. "So...how are things between you and...Rick?"
I sigh blissfully. "Pure heaven," I plop the another piece of fruit into my mouth and close my eyes. Rick.
My angel.
"I'm a genius for setting you two up." she smirks.
"You did not-"
"Yes I did, love."
"Okay fine, you arranged the party that I first saw him at but that's it. And besides, we would've gotten together without that party. You know how I really met him, right? "
"Okay you win, Barbie. This time." she devilishly tickles me and I burst into laughter.
"Yo, Ana, you better not be two-timing me," a playful, deep voice comes from behind us.
I turn around, face to face with a pair of hazel eyes.
"Rick." I breathe.

I remember my first ever conversation with Ricky Vasquez.
I was at the mall with Bri and Coco when I realized my grandmother's ruby ring was missing.
"This is impossible," I was nearly in tears. "That ring is the most important thing ever to me. We have to find it."
Coco, the organized one, immediately started barking orders. "Okay, let's scout. Bri, you check the dressing rooms. Ana, you check the jewelry store we were just in. I know it fell off after we tried the skirt on, because remember I commented how the skirt reflected off the gems on the skirt? So look there. I'll go ask anyone if they've seen anything. Now go."
I walked quickly to the jewelry store and scanned the floors. Come on, come on, it has to be there! It just has to!
"Can I help you, miss?" the woman at the clerk said kindly.
"I lost something...a ring." I struggled to talk without bursting into hysterical sobbing. "Have you seen it?"
"I'm afraid not, but I'll keep an eye out," she promised.
Heart dropping, I turned around in dismay. Maybe Bri or Coco would have some luck.
I made my way to the other side of the store to the exit. I was just about to turn to the door when a hand fell on my shoulder. I turned.
He was taller than me by a couple of inches, his dark brown hair swept to the side. He wore a colored shirt that showed off his green eyes.
Which were looking intensely at...gulp. Me.
"Is this yours?" he asked softly. He held out his hand. "I heard you talking and I spotted this near one of the aisles. I was wondering if-"
I gasped, interrupting him midway. But I was too happy to care.
Because sitting in his perfect palm was my grandmother's ruby ring.
"Oh my god. Yes! I can't believe it!" I didn't even try to contain my excitement. "Thank you so so so so much, I can't begin to say how grateful I am." I looked up and saw his warm smile.
But instead of offering the ring back to me, he held out his other hand. "May I?"
At first I was confused. I cautiously placed my hand in his.
He slipped the ring onto my finger smoothly and then moved closer. I could smell his cologne and just his scent in total as he brushed a strand of hair away from my eyes.
His next question shocked me.
"Will you marry me?"
What shocked me even more was my response.
I looked up at him shyly and said, "Yes."

Hiiii guys. So basically this is my second novel I'm working on, and I'm switching from the whole "Vampire/Horror" thing to a fun, sweet, cute romance. School of Blood has more to do with major ideas of life, but this is much more playful and just cute, I think. Comment what you all thinkkk♥
