Toda, Emily, and Koiner had been in the training camp for a month. They had made some friends among the other trainees, and they had learned a lot from their instructors. They had also faced some difficulties and hardships, such as the harsh discipline, the exhausting drills, and the strict rules. But they had endured them, and they had improved their skills and abilities.
They were now ready for their first field exercise, a simulated combat scenario in the nearby forest. They were divided into squads of four, and each squad was assigned a different objective. Toda, Emily, and Koiner were in the same squad, along with another trainee named Rina. Their objective was to infiltrate an enemy base and destroy a radar tower. They were given a map, a compass, and a radio, as well as their weapons and equipment.
They boarded a transport plane, along with the other squads, and flew over the forest. They jumped out of the plane, using their parachutes, and landed in the designated drop zone. They quickly gathered their gear and formed a square formation, with Toda and Emily in the front, and Koiner and Rina in the back. They checked their map and compass, and headed towards their objective.
They moved stealthily through the forest, avoiding any signs of enemy activity. They used hand signals and whispers to communicate, and they kept an eye on their surroundings. They were careful not to step on any mines, trip any wires, or trigger any alarms. They knew that the forest was full of dangers, and that they had to be alert and cautious.
They had been walking for about an hour, when they heard a loud explosion. They looked up, and saw a fireball in the sky. It was one of their planes, shot down by an enemy missile. They felt a surge of fear and anger, and they wondered if any of their friends were on board. They also realized that they were in trouble, as the enemy would soon be aware of their presence.
They heard another explosion, closer this time. They turned around, and saw a bomb falling from the sky, right above them. They had no time to react, no time to run, no time to hide. They only had time to scream, as the bomb hit the ground and exploded.
The blast sent them flying in different directions, tearing apart their formation. Toda felt a sharp pain in his chest, as a piece of shrapnel pierced his vest. He lost his grip on his rifle, and his radio. He hit a tree, and fell to the ground. He blacked out, and everything went dark.
He woke up, and opened his eyes. He saw smoke and fire, and heard screams and gunshots. He smelled blood and burnt flesh. He felt dizzy and nauseous. He tried to move, but he couldn't. He was pinned under a branch, and his legs were numb. He looked around, and saw no sign of his friends. He was alone, in the middle of a war zone. He was scared, and he wished he was home.
