As I lay on the uncomfortable infirmary cot, I stare at the ceiling obscured by dim flickering lights. I can't stand the thought of being stuck in here all night. I toss to my side and close my eyes to try to get some sleep. Just as my eyelids meet, I hear Dr. Duskbane's voice ring out behind me. " What have you done, boy? " I know he must have rolled his eyes when he said that, though my back is turned to him. I hear latex gloves snapping over his wrists and his heavy, booted footfalls approaching the cot. " I fainted." I respond, not bothering to look at him. " Are you sure it wasn't because Wren was there?" My blood runs cold as he mentions her. He always had rather cruel punishments. " She wasn't." I tell him, still not moving. " Do not lie to me, Casper." He continues speaking. " Not to mention a bottle of oxycodone prescribed to Wren in your drawer." I close my eyes. " I told her I didn't want her drugs." I explain, rolling to my back to face him. " Than why were they there?" He ventures further. Shit shit shit. " I don't know. Yesterday, she offered me some Morphine tabs in the rec room. I keep telling her I don't want to be involved with that crap." I look into his beady eyes. " I have a hard time believing that. However, I have decided to be kind and drop the Isolation. Take this as a warning, Casper." He pull me up my the arm and escorts me back to my room. As we make our way into the boys' wing, I see Dax stumbling up the corridor, one hand using the wall for support and the other holding his oxygen machine. He raises his eyebrows at me, as if to ask what I did. I shake my head and nod towards the door, indicating that I'll tell him later. " Dax! How wonderful it is to see you! It has been a while, has it not?" Dr. Duskbane explains, releasing me and rushing over to him. I watch Dax's eyes narrow at me. " Sure has." His tone is bleak. " How are you?" Duskbane strokes his cheek. " You're awfully cold. Is everything alright?" Dax pulls away and trips over his own feet, stumbling a little. " I'm better than ever, doc, and yourself?" I can tell he is trying to keep his voice steady. " Well, your little friend has gotten himself in some trouble, though it's not much different than the usual." He responds, nodding toward me. " Say, have you heard about some medication in your room? I did find a bottle of oxycodone in Casper's drawer." I hate how he never asked me if I had heard of it, simply told me it was my fault. " No I haven't, sir. I apologize." Dax shoots me a glance. " Well, I assume you can escort each other back to your room. Have a nice night, boys. Remember, lights off at 9." He tells us before leaving down the hall and behind a corner. " What the hell, Casper!" He exclaims, slugging me the hardest he can in my arm. " Sorry, but some bitch came in for a wellness check while Wren was there." I punch him back as we make our way towards the room.
