Back to the lab where Dr. Alara and Alexei were last.
"Mr. Sokolov, can I have a moment of your time please?", asked Alera.
-
"What do you need doctor?", replied Alexei.
-
"Well, full disclosure, I just finished experimenting some tests on the sample left from the creature, And from my many experiments, I discovered that the cells of the creature dies in a certain concentrated acid that I concocted, so in other words, the creature is not immune to acid".
-
"Ha, so acid you say? Is that all that is necessary to kill it?
-
Well, yes and no, we have indeed made an outstanding discovery, and it advances us a lot, but I'm afraid I don't know how to use the acid without causing damage to the ship, so I'm here to offer you this challenge."
-
"Absolutely, you're exciting me, doctor, trust me, this matter is in a good hands, leave it to me, I'll take it from here ."
Alexei's face looked determined; he started to pick up scraps, pieces of metal, and some plastic containers. There's a specific type of plastic that can carry acid without fearing that the acid will dissolve it.
But what could be the type of that plastic, he was clueless, so he called Carter for help.
"Hey, Carter, come over here, boy. I need to consult you about something."
-
"Can it wait for another time?"
-
"Oh, I'm afraid not. It's about the safety of the ship and it's residents. It's important, so be focused."
-
"Alright, big guy, what are we dealing with?"
-
"Alexei wants to build a powerful weapon to kill the monster. Dr. Alara said acid kills its cells, so we're gonna work on some semi-machinery weapon that sprays acid in a form of gas."
-
"Okay, let's assume that's only a hypothetical idea because... Alexei... look, we don't wanna melt the ship with acid, do we? Are we even aware what kind of acid are we going to use?"
-
"Dr. Alera, left me some details, but I wasn't sure"
-
"Hmm it says, 'hydrofluoric acid', interesting, so she's planning to break down his organic material and melt him completely, and you say you plan to use it as gas? Well as far as your fictional idea sounds nice, we don't want to cause harm to the ship, ain't we?"
-
"We won't, trust me. I've got the perfect plan."
-
"I choose to believe you, big guy. Just don't send us all to hell. Anyways, Is that all, or do you need my expertise for something else?"
