Nothing.

That is what I have gotten since we have been here.

Jay hasn't said a word to me since we have gotten to the house.

My parents are on their way back from a bridge tournament and would not be here for a little bit so we waited in the house.

Austin was raiding their kitchen for snacks and I was setting up some dinner plates while Jay sat at the table.

And no matter how many times I would "accidentally" drop something he wouldn't say anything to me, he would just watch me and then go back on his phone.

So far this trying to make him frustrated by tempting him with something he can't have is failing

Damit google. You said this would work.

He is in the restroom now and me and Austin are sitting at the table talking when I decide to change the topic.

"I think he hates me" I confess.

He is my brother. I have every right to talk to him about his best friend.

"Who?"

"Jay"

"Don't worry, he hates everyone" He shrugs.

"I know but if I have to live with him I at least want to have a civil relationship with him. Will you just talk to him?" I give him pleading eyes.

"Ugh fine" he gives in "But only if you convince mom to let me take home leftovers" He smiles.

"Deal"

My parents always listen to me, so if I want leftovers then I will get them.

They don't let Austin take food because they say he needs to eat healthy food and that good meals like this are supposed to be savored in the moment.

As for me, they are just happy if I eat anything.

When I was younger I was in a dark place and would starve myself, not on purpose, I just did not have an appetite.

So now they make sure I am fed all the time.

I hear the doorbell ring and I stand up and walk to the door and open it.

"Hey mom, hey dad" I smile and my dad gives me a hug as my mom looks up and down at my outfit.

'Hey sweetheart I missed you so much" He kisses the top of my head before standing next to my mom.

"Missed you too dad" I smile at him and turn to face my mom "Hey mom" I smile at her.

"Hey sweetie. I thought I told you not to wear that dress out in public" she reprimands in a sweet voice.

How can her disappointment sound so sweet?

Maybe that's how she got my father to marry her?

"It's our house mom, I think I am fine"

"It looks awful, its too short and not to mention the tightness on your chest" she looks over the dress and avoids my gaze.

"Mom I-" But before I can speak there is an arm wrapped around my shoulder.

"I think she looks hot" I look up to see Jay defending me, with his arm around my shoulder.

Wait, did he just call me hot.

I think I might faint.

"And who are you?" My dad raises a brow and Jay takes his arm off me and holds out his hand to my dad.
