So here we are!

It was pouring in the city full of blue and pink neon lights. The city that never sleeps. Whatever you wanted to call it. It was almost midnight and the city was still thriving. People were all over the sidewalks and traffic was jammed for at least another hour.

Thank god I walk around here.

Evalin was even more lucky that her cyborg avatar was one of the most expensive ones out there in the city. If not she would have fallen over in the middle of the street short circuited from the rain. Regardless, she didn't like the body that was given to her very much.

Green hair, pale skin that had weird black lines going up and down her body and weird red tattoos that aligned the right side of her face. She looked like a damn circus freak. Or something a clown threw up anyways.

Good luck explaining that to anyone in the city of Morganite though. They sure as hell didn't know what a circus was. That was something that must have only existed back in Evaline's home world. Which she liked to call the first planet Earth. Even though she was corrected countless times that it was 'Earth-19' and now she was supposedly on Earth-41. A more advanced Earth in a system of earths. A complete clusterfuck if you asked her though.

Every Earth was numbered higher by how advanced they were and honestly all Evalin got out of it was that there was something out in the universe using humans as a god damned science project.

The funny thing was the higher up in number you were on one of the Earth's the more details you got fed to you. On Earth-19 everyone was clueless that there were several more Earth's. They thought they were the only ones, and their constant goal was discovering what happened after you die and what the meaning of life was. All the things that would give anyone existential crisis if they thought about it long enough.

None of that mattered now. Now she was here in a more advanced world. Possibly forever. Or however long till her cyborg body gave out. She still didn't understand how it was done. Maybe she would never get the answers she wanted. She remembered dying on death row on Earth-19. Receiving the lethal injection for countless murders she had done. Well deserved murders honestly in her opinion. The law didn't like her ideals that much though that's why she was in the predicament she was in now. The only thing she felt bad about was getting caught. Next thing she knew though instead of getting sent to Hell which her whole world believed in she woke up in a huge silver room being in a courtroom all over again. Just an intergalactic one and now her new punishment after dying was her soul being trapped in this damned robot. What was worse? Her job was to be a damned cop! If she didn't do her job well her next punishment would be to never have existed. Apparently, that was scarier than just getting thrown to Hell because for some dumb reason she agreed.

Now here she was standing in front of one of the many skyscrapers in the city about to enter and get debriefed by her captain. Alone.

Evalin walked through the glass door ignoring how bright all the neon lights were and getting adjusted to the bright lit coffee house she just walked into. She was greeted by jazz music playing over the speakers on the ceiling filling the coffee house with calm vibes. Even though it was late at night the place was filled with people sitting at the tables. Cyborg's walking around serving them more coffee and to some of them dragon's breath.

Yup, you guessed it. Not only was this a coffee house but an opium house and she knew darn well her Captain didn't come here for the coffee.

Some dang cop he is!

Evalin walked over to one of the tables that was far away from the windows and out of public sight and found her Captain almost immediately.

The man was human and definitely high off his ass. There was a woman who was barely clothed sitting next to him leaning into him with her breasts almost exposed and coming out of her small bra she only wore, feeding him more of the white cubes. Upon closer inspection Evalin realized the woman was a cyborg. She could tell by the cyborgs cheap outer skin to make it look more human and the glitchy movements it was making.

Evalin got debriefed by the Captain alone because none of the other cops had a clue that she was from a lower-level Earth. Or that she was a convicted murderer but whatever.

"Ah, there you are!" The Captain said, sounding a little intoxicated. Almost as if he was drunk.

Evalin put the hood of her soaked jacket down now that she was out of the pouring rain and finally found her drug addict boss.

She took a seat in the booth across from him and took a chip from a slit in her wrist where all her data stayed recording everything she saw through her eyes. Basically, her eyes were video recording at all times except for when she was clocked out. Like right now. All the chips that stored that data were inside her fake humanoid wrist.

The Captain took the chip and slid it into his pocket. "Hope the day wasn't too rough on your sorry self."

Evalin gave him a cocky smirk. "Just another boring day."

The Captain ripped off his sunglasses giving her a glare that would have sent a human running for their life. "You are asking me to give you rougher work, bitch?" His reaction actually made the sleazy cyborg next to him jerk uncomfortably.

Evalin was getting a headache looking at the thing. If the man didn't want a real woman, the best he could do was get a top-of-the-line cyborg slut! This thing looked like it was on its last good leg and was about to start steaming like a car engine that was neglected of oil changes!

Now that was a challenge she actually was up for! Silly guy he was! He had no idea that Evalin was groveling for the past year wishing something more exciting would happen while on the job!

"Well hell yeah, Captain!" Evalin said, ignoring his poor attitude. "Come on now I am a cyborg not human! I can get slung around!"

The Captain actually laughed when he realized how serious she was being. "Yeah till I get my ass kicked because I gotta get you repaired. Fine. You want something a little more challenging. Here you go."

He flung a chip across the table and Evalin snatched it with one hand and inserted it in the slot that was behind her ear. She would make sure to read the files later when she got home.

"To be frank, I had no idea who I was going to give that job to. Everyone was so scared shitless of it. That job should take you about two weeks. A week if you think you are as bright as you say. Hell, you get it done in a week I will get you a pay raise!"

Evalin liked the sound of that. She could do with a pay raise that she would do absolutely nothing with since she was not allowed to upgrade her body, nor could she eat or drink. What the hell was money going to do for her? Nothing. By now she was probably one of the richest cops around considering all she did was pay her rent and hoard the rest.

Not like her captain who blew all his money in this hellhole.

"See you in a week!" Evalin said, giving him a sarcastic salute and jumping up from the booth.

The Captain was too high to notice her actions and just waved her off as she made her way back to the entrance. Before she got to the door, she heard the Captain call out to her.

"Hey, Evalin! Don't do any shit I wouldn't do!"

See that's the issue I try my best to do everything that you wouldn't do you junkie!

Of course, she didn't say that out loud. Instead, she waved goodbye to him and made her way out into the busy streets putting her hood back over her head to deflect some of the rain.

Welcome to Morganite City, one of many gem named cities. Enjoy the ride because there are a lot of weird things in this city besides humanoids and drug addict cops!
