nervousness. that's what clouded your already foggy mind. would anyone show up? and if anyone did... would they even remotely enjoy your stream? you shook your head, no time for negative thoughts! your favorite streamer wouldn't let their nerves deter them, so you won't either! besides, your friends said they'd watch, promised, actually.

or so you thought. just as your finger even grazed the smooth top of your mouse, your phone dinged. once, twice, thrice, more. you sighed, picking up your phone and glancing at your text notifications. "oh." you whispered to yourself, those annoying, anxious feelings flooding back in to plague your mind. okay so your friends were busy for the entirety of the stream.. that's okay, you'll manage! you hope so at least.

okay so maybe it started off rough, but hey, you're trying right? currently, you were awaiting in (possibly false) hope. but you wouldn't give up, no! you'd persevere, you had to if you wanted to end up gaining followers. 'deep breathes', you reminded yourself before clicking on your game of choice.

although, you had started to get less and less hopeful after fifteen minutes of nobody showing up. you sighed, making a dumb mistake in your game due to your wandering head space. though, your expression quickly shifted into one of utter surprise and joy. there, in your unsurprisingly empty chatbox, was a comment! 

well maybe you shouldn't be that excited because the one comment was some odd person blatantly making fun of your shitty gaming skills. but hey, at least it was someone! despite your annoyingly worried demeanor you were overjoyed at the idea of someone else being there, watching you of all people stream!

"ah-" your voice caught in your throat, would it be weird to greet this person? would they find it odd? you questioned yourself dramatically with an added on mental sigh. "okay, despite your very.. welcoming, message, welcome to the stream!" you chuckle in a sheepish manner, almost making the same mistake once more. you mutter curses under your breath, even so your eyes glance towards your chat enthusiastically.

K4BUK1 : how do you even screw up so bad??

you snort at the comment, "shove off, it's not as easy as it looks, y'know!" you protest, doing surprisingly better at the game due to your new found motivation. you smile, glancing once more at the individuals messages

 K4BUK1 : you're actually managing and not dying, that's a record.

"that's big talk for someone who'd most definetely do worse!" you counter with a fake puff, this viewer actually wasn't so bad if you were to be honest. despite their judgment, you enjoyed their company for the time being as your eyes flickered anxiously towards the viewer count... which may or may not have been rather low, you still have at least more than twenty current viewers.. that's progress, no?

though then you realised  that at least four of those were your family. given, a group chat on your phone had been exploding for the last four minutes. your trashy microphone having picked up each and every ding.

K4BUK1 : for the love of archons even your microphone has skill issues

"doesn't that make it really good though if it picks up quiet sounds?" you inquire, finally getting the hang of the game. 

K4BUK1 : nah you need some noise suppression shit

"okay you know what that is a fair point.. but i'm broke so fuck you man!" you grumble, finally reaching over to turn off your notifications. "i'll just rob an old lady or something if it makes you happy."

K4BUK1 : you wanna film that on your phone camera too?

you frowned in mock offense even though the viewer couldn't see you, "i just started and you're already my biggest hater, rude."

despite this persons rude commentary, you enjoyed their company all the same. it was rather pleasant to have at least somebody enamoured enough with your god-awful gaming skills that they stick around. anyhow, you could see yourself becoming accustomed to this whole thing. after all, if there's someone this friendly and goofy, you'd be alright.
