Mission One

Kyung Mi and her dad returned from the cemetery in low spirits. As soon as she entered the house, she greeted Ara and made for her bedroom.

'Won't you have lunch?' she directed the question to Kyung Mi.

Kyung Mi turned. 'No, I'm fine,' she replied and went to her room.

Hyun Ki requested a cup of coffee and went to his study. He had had a hectic day before but this afternoon is going to be more than hectic.

With his cup of hot coffee on the table, he began scrolling around on his laptop. He picked up his phone and dialed a number.

'Hello, SeoJeon!'

'Hello, Hyun,' SeoJeon spoke on the other side of the line.

'I need you to come over to my house. We need to discuss something very important.'

'Okay,' and the line went dead.

He put down his phone, sipped his coffee, and continued staring at the screen, thoughtfully.

Ten minutes later, SeoJeon arrived in his study.

'You wanted to see me,' SeoJeon said after exchanging pleasantries.

'Yes. I went through the papers you sent me,' Hyun Ki began.

'Those are the components and dosages for the pill. I was able to get them from a trusted friend in the pharmacology department. Everything we need to know about the pill is compiled here,' SeoJeon explained.

'Nice work. But how sure are you that we can trust that friend of yours?' Hyun Ki asked.

'I trust him with my life,' SeoJeon swore. 'He also expressed his willingness to support anyone who will destroy the pill because of its harmful effects,' he further explained.

Hyun Ki furrowed his brows. 'You very well know that this matter is extremely delicate and not some piece of information to divulge to just anyone.'

'Yes, I know, Hyun. I know. But at this point, we can't do this alone. We need highly trusted soldiers who have the same goals to work with. Even if we steal the pills, Gen. Yeong will try to fight us. We need to build our army, Hyun.

'Gen. Yeong is one man who is ready to destroy the whole of ROKA just for his benefit... '

'That's all the more why we should be extra careful about this mission,' Hyun cut in. 'Apart from his greediness, Yeong is also cunning so we need to be careful,' Hyun cautioned.

SeoJeon nodded.

'Also, there is something I discovered regarding Seo Ah's death,' Hyun said through gritted teeth.

'What is it?' SeoJeon leaned closer.

'Yeong and Dae Hyun are responsible for my wife's death,' Hyun shut his eyes tightly as anger slowly engulfed his face. He was filled with fury.

'But... But why?' SeoJeon stuttered speechlessly.

'I guess I have been targeted by those two... '

'Just say one. Dae Hyun is just his lapdog. He can't do without Yeong's powers,' SeoJeon cut in, amused. 'But, whatever the cause, this mission is partly vengeance for your wife,' he said with determination and conviction on his face.

'And for the safety of South Korean people too,' Hyun patted SeoJeon's shoulder.

'One more thing. Bring that trusted friend of yours to the pharmacology department tomorrow by nine am. I need to interview him,' Hyun Ki announced.

'You're taking my advice, hey?' SeoJeon bubbled with inner excitement but futilely tried to suppress it.

'Advice from a close buddy is not to be joked with,' Hyun said with a sincere smile.

'Way to go, buddy! I knew you'd always make the best decisions,' SeoJeon playfully punched his arm.

'Best friends for sure!'

'Let me walk you out. We can catch up later perhaps for tea but right now we are into something more serious.'

Kung Fu Practice

'Alright, everyone! It is time for you to practice the snake and tiger moves together. And anyone who doesn't pass this test will not be upgraded to the next level. Do you understand?' Master announced.

'Yes, master!' the trainees echoed.

'Everyone go in pairs and pick your spots!' Master yelled.

Kyung Mi was absent-minded as she recalled the discussion between her father and his best friend. She kept thinking about it when someone pushed her.

'Hey, what are you doing in the middle of the field? Didn't you see that everyone is getting ready for the test? Or are you afraid?' the voice mocked.

This got Kyung Mi pissed.' Don't be too arrogant, Eun-he. Maybe you'll be the one to be kicked out,' she sneered.

'I'll get you you bitch,' Eun-He snarled while Kyung Mi walked away.

'Hey, Kyung Mi. Wanna pair with me,' DaeSeong, a lanky, arrogant but talented and cunning Kung Fu trainee, smirked at Kyung Mi.

Everyone was astonished. The last thing any person in their training set would do was to fight with DaeSeong. He could easily beat anyone.

'Sure!' Kyung Mi accepted and took her position. The crowd gasped.

Though, everyone knew Kyung MI's capabilities but they didn't think it would match the undefeatable DaeSeong. Even Master had to intervene.

'Are you sure you both want to compete with each other,' he asked.

'I've got no problem with it, Master,' DaeSeong answered in his usual arrogant tone that irritated Kyung Mi.

'So do I, Master, ' Kyung said straight-forwardly.

DaeSeong regarded her like a prey that he would devour, the minute their bell would be rung.

The contest began. A lot of pairs contested and determined who would be promoted and who would be left behind. The speculators, which consisted of judges, including Master, and the rest of the audience, looked forward to the star match of the day.

After what seemed like an eternity, the two too-goods were finally at the center of attention. Both matched to the training field confidently as the audience cheered. It was a memorable moment.

Behind the confident and tough look, Kyung Mi was nervous. "Only God will help me," was the only thing she said deep down.

On the other hand, DaeSong carried himself around arrogantly. He was very sure about the winner of the game.

On the sound of the whistle, DaeSong charged at Kyung Mi. He swung his fist aggressively to her face but she dodged it. He threw a punch but she eluded it. DaeSong grew angry and attacked, recklessly. Kyung Mi remained on the defensive till she found a weak point - his ribcage was unprotected. She swiftly swung her leg and hit him accurately, followed by an uppercut.

At that point, the match became interesting with a lot of cliffhangers.

An hour and a half later, Hyung Mi brought DemaeSong down by a little margin. The crowd cheered. A lot were surprised and impressed.

As the crowd jubilated, she and DaeSong were ushered into the school so that their wounds could be treated.
