----------------------------------------------------------

The wind very strong that summer. So very strong that, on one particular night, the wind swept a cluster of fireflies away.  See, these fireflies as always were dancing about at twilight showing off their brilliant little lights. But the wind had grown so mighty and powerful that it pick up the little bugs and continued to carry them all over the land. The wind was so vigorous that the fireflies could not fly out of the breeze. The wind carried them everywhere, and the wind never slowed down or weakened. When they were carried over tall forests, the fireflies tried grabbing onto the trees. When the wind blew them over lush green fields of grass, the fireflies attempted to grab onto the blades of vegetation. But not one of the poor little bug’s attempts worked.

As the air brought them over oceans, canyons, mountains, valleys, and rivers the fireflies eventually gave into the wind and stopped trying to resist the breeze by flying away or attempting to grab hold of objects. But the little bugs never stopped showing the world their beautiful flickering lights.

No matter where the wind carried them, the fireflies never forgot about who they were, and nothing could ever make the fireflies stop shining.  Huge strong eagles who flew with wind near the fireflies came from time to time. They taunted the bugs and called them sad and weak because they could not escape and leave the wind at will like the eagles could. They told the fire flies that they were not great enough to have the honor or privileged to display such wondrous lights to the whole world. But the fireflies always responded by thanking the eagles for calling their lights wondrous. Fast horses too, who ran along with the wind had told the fire flies that they did no deserve to mystify the land with their magnificent glow. And yet again the fire flies would reply by thanking the horses for complimenting their glows by claiming them ‘magnificent’. The little bugs persistently show off their lights in the night’s sky.

After many years, the fire flies had come to know the entire world while traveling with the wind. They have witness the multiple wonders of mother nature and had come to know so a vast majority of creatures and landscapes. The fireflies had seen lions hunting together, avalanches of show, dolphins leaping above the horizon, trees resisting hurricanes, and rain fall on deserts. They grew wise. Animals, plants, and even rocks would often try to ask the fireflies for advise whenever the bug’s wind flew over their home. And the fireflies where always happy to give away their knowledge, that is if they ever stuck around in one area long enough to be able to tell it!

The fireflies had eventually become very good friends with the wind that carried them over the land for many years together. This wind was know as Fliron to them. Even though the fireflies loved and missed their home and families, they knew that being picked up by the wind was probably the best thing that had ever happened to them. If the wind had never swept them away, the fireflies would have never become so wise, seen so many places, or made so many friends. Also, Fliron was a quite talented singer, so the fireflies loved to hear their friend sing while they traveled.

On one particular day, the wind blew directly straight toward the tallest mountain in the world. This mountain always thought he was better then everything in the entire world because he was the tallest thing in existence. Nothing was closer to the sun, sky, or heavens then this mountain. Because the mountain thought he was the best thing on earth, he was also very rude, stubborn, and cocky. Now when Fliron was blowing straight toward the mountain, it knew it had two choices. The first was that the wind could go around the mountain and therefore make the mean mountain happy. The second choice was that Fliron could try and go over the mountain. If the wind went over the mountain, then Fliron would be challenging it, and that would make the rude mountain furious. The mountain never has, and never wanted anything to go over it, for then the mountain would only be the second closest to the sun, sky, and heavens. Fliron never really liked mountains in general; because they would never move aside for any wind. And Fliron especially didn’t like the tallest mountain at all because it was so mean and thought it was better than everything else. So the wind decided that it was going to try and go over the tallest mountain.

The wind began rising up, and the fireflies where flying along side the edge of the tallest mountain. The mountain began to realize what the wind was doing, and became so furious that it shock the land below and start to rise up into the sky, trying to stretch itself and reach up as high as the mountain could. The wind was working very hard to scale the steep slope of the mountain, trying to gain altitude and speed. The mountain eventually simply could not reach higher into the sky, and kept trying in vain to be taller. The wind was slowing down the higher it went, for it could simple not defy gravity. The fireflies, meanwhile had never traveled so high in their long lifetimes of being carried by Fliron. And they were happy to see that nightfall had begun arriving, so they could show off their glorious lights to everything far below. Eventually the mountain could only stay and rumble with anger while it watched to see if the wind could go over it, for the mountain had stretched as tall as it ever could be. Fliron was getting extremely tired but pressed on since it saw how close it was from conquering the tallest mountain. But the wind continue to grow slower and slower.

The wind was not to be beaten, and it made it to the mighty high peak of the mountain. But Fliron was so weak and made such a sharp turn at the mountain peak, that all the little fire flies who were enjoying the ride their time showing off their lights to all the world, went flying straight up and out of the wind’s now-weak grasp. Fliron had flung them so high into the air, that the fireflies were way above both the wind and mountain. They were so high and deep into the sky that, the little bugs ended up stuck in the sky. The bugs had not exercised their wings in so in so long that they could not fly back down. They would now forever be stuck in the sky for eternity. But this did not bother the wise old fireflies, because now they could forever look down an continue to see the all the world below. And the fireflies could still guide all their friends back down on earth. Also, the wise old fireflies could now forever shine their beautiful, brilliant, wondrous, magnificent, bright lights for the entire world to see every night.
