Cruel Angel

Prompt: Last day on earth and you're far away from your love

Part two of the one-shot from last year called Fallen

"N-Naruto...What is that thing?"

The question was a breathless wheeze on her lips, each choked word weighed down by the mind-numbing sensation of abject terror.

She reached blindly for him.

Latching on for dear life when her shaking hands made contact, gripping him tight enough to bruise despite the strangle hold he already had on her.

Not once did she tear her wide eyes from the writhing creature ripping apart the Heavens above.

She couldn't put word nor coherent thought to what she was seeing.

Her struggling mind raced around and around itself, desperately trying to piece together the indescribable being eclipsing the sky, trying to process what couldn't be dissected, analyzed and brought to conclusion. She dangled on the edge of madness for breathless seconds, clawing frantically for the scattered chunks of her sanity before her psyche slammed down a wall to full comprehension, cutting off her struggle to reconcile her mind so hard it hurt.

Numbness took its place.

A tortuously blankness that left her searching for the tethers that bound her within herself and the world around her.

She crashed full force back into reality as the creature above moved again.

A segment of its form separated, peeling back with a sickening series of tearing and pops until another layer of horror revealed itself. Horrendous rumbling vocalizations blasted her ears drums, every echo rattling her bones, leaving behind an unbearable ache that reverberated like ripples on a pound all throughout her skeletal structure.

Her lips parted for the painful scream lodged in her throat.

If it clawed it's way from her windpipe, Hinata had no idea.

Trying to register any one sensation in and on her body was impossible.

Every nerve ending beneath her skin was screaming even if she physically had not; shouting, wailing, and crying until pain carved deep groves across every sensation receptor lining her form.

Heat bloomed inside her nose a beat before the scent of copper filled it.

Warm liquid trickled down her left nostril as burning pulsations began a harsh drumbeat behind her eye sockets.

She sat transfixed in agony, horrified into open mouthed silence.

Time screeched to a halt.

Sound faded to silence.

Every breath that left her lungs felt loud even though she was deaf to them, coaxing her anxiety to several notches above too much.

She cringed with each exhalation, terrified by their sound, by her deafness to them.

Something shook her hard, pushing and pulling with enough force to rock her head on her shoulders.

That being in the sky shifted.

Her lungs seized.

Pungent terror crept across her skin...

It was...aware of her.
