Her heart began to calm as she heard his soft snores. She knew from the beginning that he felt secure next to her, through his gestures and the way he held her captive until dawn. One night, she deliberately stayed awake and observed him. His sleep didn't break until sunrise. She had heard from his grandmother about his insomnia, yet he fell asleep like a normal person when she was around. At first, she thought he was faking it for her benefit, but now, everything changed. She didn't want him to confess; she knew he was beginning to fall for her, maybe even in love with her. But she wanted to give him the security that no matter what happened in their life, she would always be by his side.
Bending down, she kissed his head and pulled him closer to her heart as she remembered him calling her and her mother, his fairy godmother, and his "Secret Obsession." Though she was happy, the word "obsession" created havoc in her stomach. She couldn't escape it. Between love and obsession, there is a thin thread, and once crossed, it is difficult to return. Like her father, who still struggles with his obsession. It has been 27 years since her mother left, yet he remains in the same place.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought about her father. She had never received a single gesture of love from him; he hated her completely. He still believed she was the reason behind his wife's demise and refused to forgive her. Even still, he attempted suicide multiple times, only to be saved each time. He purposefully didn't want to move on from his grief.
Her father was the main reason she chose the field of clinical psychology. She helped many patients with similar cases through therapy, but she stayed away from her father, who hated even the sight of her. She knew he wouldn't have recognized her, even in her wedding attire. But that was nothing new to her; she had felt his coldness and untouchability for the 27 years of her life.
But when she felt the same kind of feel from her husband, along with his growing habit of getting close to her, her heart trembled, and she began to fear the same future for her unborn child. At that moment, she was 100% sure that her pregnancy wouldn't shake his world but rather have the opposite effect; he might be the happiest person to learn the news. But her fear and past experiences pushed her to consider termination, as she mentally believed she wouldn't be alive after giving birth. More than anything, she couldn't imagine Shivaay going through the same phase her father went through.
"NO!" she shouted unconsciously when her brain insisted on terminating the pregnancy. Shivaay woke up in response and sat beside her.
"What happened?" he asked with concern.
"Nightmare!" she lied. He wiped away her tears.
"It's okay! I'm here for you!" he said, kissing her cheek.
"You must be hungry! Wait, I'll bring you something to help you sleep peacefully!" He got out of bed.
"I want milk!" she blurted out. He was confused.
"But you hate milk," he pointed out.
"It's good for the baby," she thought to herself but didn't say it aloud.
"Yes, but I feel like having it," she managed to say.
He soon arrived with a glass of milk. "I added saffron in it, hoping it won't smell like regular milk," he explained.
"Thank you!" she said with a smile, taking a large gulp.
"I knew you'd gulp it down like that. I should have brought some noodles instead," he commented on her reaction. It wasn't his first time bringing her something to eat at midnight. During these nights, she often needed something to eat to regain strength. Over time, she had developed cravings for pizza and noodles, and he felt uneasy about her behavior, asking her to eat something healthier and more easily digestible. She never listened to him.
