(Madelyn Cline as Honey Hartz)
Honey Hartz wanted nothing more than to be somebody, not a somebody, THE somebody and that's exactly what she was.
Honey never had a perfect life, she didn't have a desired home life and she certainly wasn't a winner in the friend department.
It wasn't something that she liked to dwell on. That was life, as sad as it was- no one was struck with the luck of landing the perfect life, no matter how much she wished that it was a gift passed on to everyone. Life wasn't sculpted to be easy, what would be the point of that? Life is about dealing with the cards dealt to any living species, you just have to be strong enough to persevere through the rough heats in the middle of a catastrophic drought. Conserving water resources is the main alternative to surviving an aridity, she saw a drought as the force that always seems to be hovering near her- ready to strike at the smallest sign of weakness.
Droughts mainly dry out crops and put plants' lives in danger. The force that seems to target her, it dries out whatever happiness she clings onto with her life. The force always seems to ruin her relationship with those around her - some would argue that the latter was her own doing, but the small part inside of her that gave her heart and soul to those around her, begged to differ-.
The mere difference between the two is that the world can have instant relief and be freed from the shackles of the natural disaster with the happy tears of the universe. A drought cannot put up a fight against a natural element that will do anything to save its home. Sadly, Honey doesn't have a home which in turn, means that she is nobody's home. She is in this on her own, there are no tears to be shed for the blonde girl. Not happy nor sad. The only tears being shed were from the girl herself, and even she knew that those tears were not going to dry up her drought.
It was never easy surviving in the 70's, especially being a woman who wanted more in life than raising children.
It was a hard decade for most, but Honey felt like the world was out to get her which was a feeling she had harboured since she was a young child. She was a young girl who wanted to pursue her passion as a singer, which didn't rub well with others. It was odd to see a woman expressing herself while doing something that didn't involve men. But then again, it was odd to see a passionate woman doing anything at the time.
Her mother would always say, 'You can't keep a man by one-upping him at every opportunity you get.' It was an outdated take on relationships but Honey bit her lip and ignored her mother's words with a smile. She was used to it, it was just one of a million comments that she had not only heard from her mother but from the women of her town also.
But when Honey decides the housewife life isn't up to par, she chooses to take her future into her own hands, as she travels across the country to pursue her gripping music career in the booming city of Los Angeles.
There, she meets a man named Teddy Price who makes her an offer she can't refuse -though she tries- but it comes with its downs, having to improve and work with an unknown band called, 'The Dunne Brothers' for a chance at gaining respect in the industry which would immensely help her chances with winning over the old farts in the office into helping her drop her own album.
The hard-ass lead singer gives her a run for her money which would have usually angered her enough to tell him to eat shit (she did) but it was as if something was holding her back, and she suspects it's the tall brunette with enchanting brown eyes that she longs to stare into until the end of time: but she also happens to be the lead singer's wife.
Camila Dunne, the water to her drought.

WARNINGS: Honey is a very hot and cold character and is MAJORLY flawed (love her though), the 70s (a warning in its own), sexism, sexual harassment (not in detail), lesbian shit, swearing, on-page kissing(no smut), bad writing, Billy Dunne, Daisy Jones, cheating and spoilers for the series!!

PLEASE READ!!
ONE: This is my story and I own all rights to Honey Hartz and any other character I choose to add to the series!! Please do not take my ideas or my writing and claim it as your own. I do not own DJATS (show or book) and all rights go to their respective owners<3
I will however be adding real songs and writing them as Honey's music. I will make sure to credit the real musicians as their songs do not belong to me.
TWO: I am so excited to begin this journey!! I know this may upset a lot of people but I hate Billy and Daisy😭, I only finished the show for Camila and decided that I needed to write something for my girl because she has warmed her way into my top 3 female characters list. She deserved so much better than what she was given in both the book and the series. I'm not saying that this book gets a happy ending (I will not confirm nor deny) but she will be treated right in this book.
Plus Camila is STUNNING and deserved better than a no-good cheater.
THREE: Please don't be a silent reader!! I can't tell you what to do but I love reading comments and it keeps me updated to continue to write for my books. I'm not 100% sure when new updates will be coming as I am in a writing slum, but I will try as hard as I can to deliver.
AND LASTLY/FOUR: Please enjoy this book!! I'm looking forward to sharing this with you guys<3
-Love, Sonia
