In a blink of an eye a month had passed and Samantha got used to her routine where she would wake up at 6am, go to school, study, go to work and got back home at 3am just to do it all again day after day.
At school everything was ordinary but there was this one boy who would always stuck at her side no matter how her unpleasant her replies would be.
Zach was getting used to him being the only talkative of their friendship, Sam wasn't the one to talk but she would listen. He still didn't agree to her choice of smoking and he was getting kind of concerned about the dark circles under her eyes which could be seen even with make up on but she would just brush it off and tell him she was fine.
Today it was a special day, it was October but the weather in this beautiful socialism city allowed everyone to feel like like it was summer still.
Sam had a day off and Zach knew that and was too thrilled to miss the opportunity to hang with his new friend outside school land.
"I was thinking... why don't we hangout today? You're always working!"
Zach didn't need to know that but Sam actually liked this idea. She wanted to get out of her home, her mom and her were more roommates than family, everything in that house was just cold.
"You up for a pizza at the beach?" She suggested... the beach was something she always loved, it gave her the idea of freedom.
"Sure I am!" He replied while trying to pick her cigarette from her mouth: "you really should stop that, it makes you sick".
"Mind you business Zach, everyone will die at some point".
Her friend couldn't give a proper answer so he just shut his mouth and started thinking about the evening plans. As the sunset set in Zach and Sam were already at the beach with their pizza and towels.
"I brought some beer!"
"And you have to be so loud about it?"
"Oh come on Zach! You know none's gonna say anything"
He knew that. In the month he spent here he could point the culture's differences. Here the legal drinking age was 18 but kids started drinking much earlier, there weren't any controls about it, it was strange for him.
Everything was just peaceful, they enjoyed the comfortable silence that surrounded them, that was until Zach's ringtone disrupted it.
"Sorry it's my sister we usually FaceTime" He said as he went for his phone
"Hey Leah!"
"Zach! You took forever! Where are you?"
"Oh I'm here at the beach with my friend Sam"
"Sam's there? I wanna meet her! You've been talking about her since ever!"
Samantha didn't fail to notice how his cheeks turned slight pink and decided to save the poor boy from embarrassment.
She went near to Zach, only after hiding from the camera the beers and the cigarette she was holding.
"Hey what's up? I'm Sam"
Leah was left speechless looking at her brother's friend. The girl on the screen was an exact replica of her best friend and that freaked her out.
"Leah you good?" That was her brother, breaking the spell she was put into
"Yeah sorry, network ain't working. It's a nice meeting you Sam! Now I gotta go. Enjoy yourselves guys!"
"Bye!" They replied in unison.
"She seems nice"
Zach scoffed "She just like to piss me off, but I love her"
"Must be nice"
"What about you?"
Samantha smiled but her eyes were a different story and she filled her lungs with smoke before replying.
"It's just me and my mom for ad long as I can remember."
Then the night went on between laughter and talking. It was refreshing for Zach to see this side of Sam. He doesn't know it but he knew more about her than anyone in the world, she didn't understand why but she felt like she could trust him.The next morning Zach got a strange text from his sister where she asked a clear picture of his friend, that lead him to call her right away.
"Hey Leah, why you want a picture of Sam"
"Zee she looks like Luke's twin only younger!"
Then it struck to him. That's why she felt so familiar!
Growing up Lucas would spend a lot of time at their house being his sister's best friend and only now he couldn't unseen it
"Gosh you're right that's why she looks familiar"
"Yeah and he had a sister before her mom took her away..."
"Do you think it's her?"
"I don't know... could be... send me a picture and I'll talk to Luke".
Just as he closed the call he couldn't not thinking about all the similarities Sam and Luke shared... Same eyes, same dimples and even the same smile.
He couldn't be sure that it was her but if not that was a hell of a coincidence.
