I felt an uneasy feeling as I slowly walked through the streets of town, weaving in and around the stores and building through the setting darkness. I willed myself to walk a little faster. Needing to get home before Mum could do anymore damage to herself, but I felt like I was being observed- throwing my focus off course. I quickened my pace as my nerves fell into a frenzy- I needed to get home fast. The feeling was now stronger, more pronounced than it had been before. Whoever it was seemed closer and keen on looking as I walked home. Holding my bag tight against my chest, I broke out in as fast of a sprint as my legs would carry me. My dress, already fairly short, rode completely up my thighs, but I ignored it and pressed harder towards home. Yet...the feeling didn't subside, and then I heard it.
A labored breathing intertwining in with mine.
They were chasing me.
I squeezed my eyes shut and ran faster, tears on the verge of falling, and then I stopped running. Not by my will but by a force that held me hard."I just wanted to say 'hi'..." A voice murmured," I've never meant to give you such a fright, darling..."
Their voice was compelling, healing my ragged breathing and pounding heart. Their hands played at my waist, fingers holding a firm grip.
"Please just let me go." I said, panicking as I pushed against their arms.
But their grip only tightened before it laxed completely. I quickly moved away, turning to face my pursuer, and was met with the stunning face of a man. I hurriedly fixed my dress and pushed my hair from my face, causing him to let out a short laugh as his eyes ventured up the length of my body, his eyes lingering on my face.
"I've already seen it all for our first encounter- no need to adjust your clothes now." He chuckled and my face burned with embarrassment.
My breathing returned to it's ragged state as he stepped closer, an amused smile on his face.
"Well, I think you better hurry home. Not the right time of day for a girl like you to be roaming around...all bare legs and such- I mean if you're willing to let more guys grab hold of you aside from me then be my guest and continue your walk but.," He paused, his smile seeming to grow," Not all will spare you like I have." His smile now seemed permanently etched into his face as he lit a cigarette and flashed me a wink before he turned on his heel and walking away.
XI saw him before he saw me. A tall muscular figure leaning nonchalantly against a crumbling brick building, but as soon as I saw him he was gone. As invisible as the wind treading through my hair. But I knew him- everyone did. He was the rebel- the round peg in the square hole. The devil amongst angels. He was different. I never knew his name but I knew enough from the whispers and sideways glances of his by passers. His tattered jeans and exposed tattooed arms stuck out like a sore thumb here in Wolverhampton, but he didn't care it seemed.
I sighed, tucking a strand of hair behind my hair and continued walking, pushing thoughts of him from my mind, but thoughts from last night's encounters still reigned my thoughts and planted fear in my heart.xx
The sudden fist coming down onto the small granite table, made me jump in surprise, a small gasp falling from between my lips.
I look up from the hand to the face above it and nearly screamed from the deep frown I'm met with."I-I...uhh...hello?" I stutter, my eyes wide with fear.
"Hello. Happy to see me?" He smiles sadistically, his eyes flickering down past my face, and I have the urge to button my cardigan up completely, but He suddenly takes a seat across from me, turning my book around on the table to face him. He flips it closed, losing my place, as he reads the title.
"Really?" He asks, flicking up a perfect eyebrow. I open a mouth to speak and explain what it's about before he speaks again.
"I honestly don't want to know,but...I do think you're quite stunning." He lets his fingers ghost against my cheek, noticing the blush that fans across them.
