Dreary Digital Dreams [Inanimate Insanity AU]

Chapter 2

Bot sat at their desk, writing in a brand-new journal.
"My name is Bot. I'm 13 years old, and I live on Paradise Island. My mom and dad were murdered at my old home when I was 9, and for the past 4 years, MePhone, MePad, and The Floor have been taking care of me here. But today, we're moving back to Hotel OJ, where my parents' murder went cold. MePhone says it's for the best, but The Floor thinks it's a bad idea," Bot wrote.
They sighed and mumbled, "I guess it's just the way things have to be."
Bot closed the book, put it in their backpack, and exited their room in the cabana.

MePhone is seen packing a large tank terrarium, and The Floor is in a little travel-sized one.
"Hey mate, you done packing?" The Floor asked.
"Uh, yeah.. nearly finished," Bot said. "I wanted to ask you something..."
"Sure, what is it?" The Floor said.
"How come you think it will be bad for us to go back," they asked.
"Listen, kiddo, I just feel like going back is going to reopen some nasty wounds, y'know?" The Floor said, " I don't want you to be retraumatized all over."
" I get that, but," Bot sighed, "Floory, those wounds that would be reopened... They've never closed... I just want to know what happened to my parents."

MePad approaches. "Are you almost finished packing, my dear?"
" Oh... um... yeah," Bot said. "Hey, MePad, do you think when we get back, I could investigate my parents' cold case."
" No, that's not a good idea," MePad said.
"Aw, why not?" Bot asked.
" Leave it up to the professionals. They know what they're doing," MePad said.
" But my parents' case is cold. They never found anything," They said.
MePad looked at them with a calm expression before saying, "It would be too danger -"
Bot cut him off, "You never let me do anything. It's not fair!"
"I'm sorry, but Me and MePhone don't want you getting hurt," MePad said. "Please gather your things. We depart in 15 minutes and 45 seconds."
Bot sighed. "Okay," they said before heading off into their room.
MePad sighed, "We're just doing what is best..."
