PROLOGUE

The street lights flickered. Daniel's heart was pounding more than it ever had, more than when he met Abigail's mother. The temptation of forbidden love was what had Daniel hooked at first, then everything changed when he fell in live with her. It was as if their worlds collided. But still his heart race because the only thing that was more important than his love for Abigail's mother, was his daughter, nothing else mattered. He would have given up his life for her. In fact, he was running for just that reason.

Abigail was precious to David. He was the only thing that he had that held a fine, fragile string to his beloved Anael. He couldn't help but wonder where she could possibly be. He only knew that he would stop at nothing to make sure the child was safe.

Abigail squirmed in David's arms, she was feverish, which didn't help with the chase. His heartbeat was so loud, he stopped running, to see what how far the Brothers had come. The Brothers weren't men, or really David's brother at all, but demons. Fortunately for David, they hadn't brought any hell hounds with them. David turned around to hear his surroundings, soaking it in.

He didn't see any shadows, but he heard the voices. The angry, death-set voices. With every yell, they became closer to David and his daughter.

Quickly, David ran down with Abigail in his trembling arms. His hands became weak, he knew he had to stop running. David made a sharp turn into the foul alleyway. He could only pray that the person who found his dear Abigail, wasn't one of the creatures he used to call his brothers.

He laid his 1 month old daughter in the box labeled GROVE'S TREE FARM. The blanket that surrounded her, supported her in anyway possible. David heard the Brothers, the time was flying by so quickly, he needed to fumble to get the important item in his pocket. He held a silver locket, one so rare, it was made of one if heaven's stead's horn. Anael wanted their daughter to have it, because no matter what happened to them, she would have this necklace. The cover of the locket engraved in a beautiful text, Abigail.

Virginia fumbled with the keys. Locking the restraunt's door was always a pain, but it seemed harder this time. Her boyfriend of 5 years just broke up with her. She didn't want him to, she was determined that he was the one. The one she would say I do to. She even wanted kids with him. But fate decided otherwise. She was 16 or anything, she was about 25. Virginia dreamed about a life in the city, but never expecting the reality of the hell she was living in.

The door finally locked. Since her car broke down, Virginia had to walk home on her own under the cruel city lights.

She made her way down to the bus, but the bus had just left. In fact, every turn she made, she was redirected to the path she never took home. Virginia wasn't necessarily "afraid" of that particular way. But something was making her heart faster.

Virginia walked down the street with a fast pace. But when she heard the crying, she stopped dead in her tracks. She turned into the alleyway in which was almost pitch black. The street light flickered back on, but what Virginia saw appalled her. David lay on the floor, in a puddle of cold, freshly spilled blood. Virginia covered her mouth. The only real blood she had ever experienced was when she scraped her knee being a cheerleader in junior high. She was no where near prepared for the first aid needed to possibly save a man in dyer need. Out of impulse, she ran up to David and hold his hand, praying. It was the only thing that helped her escape the stress pressured onto her. She opened her eyes and looked down at his face. His features were rough and covered in blood. But his face was a gentle one. He had blonde hair, sadly stained with blood and grime. Virginia touched his face, hoping for this stranger a miracle. He started to cough, but he was coughing up blood. He opened his eyes, they were a deep, flawless black. Virginia was a taken back, she dropped his almost lifeless hand. He knew she was frightened, but he didn't care about the fate of himself, but of his daughter. He took every last ounce of energy he still held on to, to point at the box in the corner, where the Brothers failed to look. She slowly got up and reached in for the box, only to find a beautiful baby, covered in a big wool blanket. David last breath came and his hand released. Inside, was the engraved stead's locket.

Virginia knew what she was getting herself into. But when she saw the face of Abigail, she fell in love immediately. She knew she had to keep her safe from danger no matter the cost. She held Abigail close to her chest and picked the locket out of David's hand. She muttered a single word that would change her life forever.

Abigail.
