Chapter 291: No Younger Sister

As he spoke, he led Lisa upstairs.

The smell of medicine lingered in the air. The second floor was comparatively quiet. In fact, there seemed to be a deadly silence.

"Mom, I'm back."

Sehun knocked on a door.

"Sehun, you're back?" a weak woman's voice sounded. "Come in. Why are you home so early?"

His eyes turned red as he forced a smile on his face. "I wanted to return earlier to keep you company!"

He then turned his head and pleaded quietly, "Miss Manoban, can you not tell my mother that you're a doctor?"

Hope had been torn away from them too many times, so Sehun did not dare to give his mother hope again.

Lisa gently nodded her head.

As soon as the door opened, a stronger scent of disinfectant wafted out of the room.

The room had been specially arranged, and next to the bed sat a respirator.

A haggard woman was lying in the bed, so skinny that she was like a pile of bones. Her face was sallow, and the back of her hand was covered in needle marks.

She exuded the aura of death.

Lisa did not like this. She liked sunshine, vibrancy, and things that were full of life.

Because in her previous life, she too had this aura while lying in bed waiting for her death.

At that time, her heartbeat gradually slowed until it eventually stopped.

"You brat, there's so much to do at the office, how could you... Eh? Who's this girl?"

Mother Oh's eyes lit up. She once had a daughter, but she passed away not long after birth.

So, she had envisioned countless times how her daughter would look if she was still alive.

A set of clear eyes, a delicate and exquisite face, and a head of long, soft jet-black hair with which she could tie ponytails. This girl completely matched the image in her mind. Her eyes opened in shock.

"So similar..."

She waved at Lisa. "Child, come here."

Lisa's eyes darted but she obediently approached and said softly, "Hello, Auntie."

"Oh..."

Mother Oh smiled in a particularly happy manner. "This young lady is so pretty. You and our Sehun are...?"

She didn't think that Sehun and Lisa were an item; she simply thought they were friends. Mainly because Lisa looked so young that she did not look like an adult.

Lisa smiled sweetly. "Auntie, Brother Oh and I are friends. I heard you were ill so I came to visit you!" she said with a cute voice that she used to use on her mother. The end of each sentence was high-pitched as she grabbed onto the woman's hand. "Auntie, I forgot to bring a gift. You won't be mad, right?"

This young girl's hands were soft like cotton candy.

Mother Oh immediately felt her pain disappear a bit. She smiled and shook her head. "No, I'm not mad! You're so well-behaved, how could I be mad?"

Lisa seemed to fill the void that she had in her heart.

Sehun understood. When his sister passed away, he was old enough to understand.

He was supposed to have a younger sister. At that time, he was in school. Back then, he used to play basketball with his friends as soon as school finished, and they did not return home until the sky was dark. But after he discovered that he was to have a younger sister, he rushed home every single day so he could press his face against his mother's belly and chat to the baby inside.
