Best Friends

Chapter 1

Sunlight peaked through the window of a room in Goenka house. The room is well maintained and clean, walls decorated with shades of blue. Trophies and awards kept in a small shelf at one side. In the middle of the room is a bed and beside the bed, there's a picture of a couple. As the sun rays hit the face of a girl, she woke up and took the picture. Kissing the picture, she wished them good morning and then went to shower and get ready, since she needed to go to the hospital. After getting ready, she checked herself and went downstairs to have breakfast.

The dining table is filled with delicious food and the aroma that can make anyone hungry.

"Boo" called the two naughty one and a few months old munchkins who were sitting in their high chair and their mothers' were feeding them.

"Good morning my munchkins" said the girl pinching their nose.

"Aru come have breakfast before leaving." said Anisha to the girl.

"Yes Bhabhi. Good morning, everyone" said the girl, Aarohi.

After completing breakfast, Aaru went to Birla Hospital. It's been a month since she was promoted to being a surgeon. Last month, she won the best intern award through her perseverance and dedication. She goes towards her cabin, where on the wall beside the door, a nameplate is hanged with writing 'Dr Aarohi S. K. Goenka". Today, she didn't have any surgery schedule before lunch, so she went on rounds. After completing her round, she returned back to her cabin and began her research on how to use organic and environment friendly procedures for places like villages where electricity or big infrastructures are scarce.

At the other side in Birla house, many were rushing to finish their breakfast since they needed to go to their work place.

"Abhimanyu, what's the progress of Dr Aarohi's research." asked Mahima at the dinning table.

"Taiji, last I checked she told me that she drafted some plans and we are supposed to discuss today." replied Abhi.

"Very well, then" said Mahima.

"Bye everyone, I have a surgery so I need to rush." said Abhimanyu.

Soon, Abhimanyu, Mahima and Anand went to Birla Hospital. Reaching hospital,Abhi first performed surgery which took two hours and was a success. After that he went to his cabin.

Nurse came and knocked on Aarohi's room. She informed that Dr Abhimanyu wants to meet her. Aarohi went to his cabin.

She knocked the door and asked "May I come in Dr Abhimanyu?"

"Come in Dr Aarohi" said Abhi.

"Dr Abhimanyu, I drafted some plans based on my research. I was thinking to use solar panels and wind turbines to generate electricity. It will be less expensive, easily available and environment friendly. We know electricity is limited to none in rural areas. Along with that, rural people are used to Aurvedic treatment, so we can use medicines which are herbal and it will be beneficial to health as well. What do you propose about the ideas Dr Abhimanyu?" questioned Aarohi.

Abhi said " I think your ideas are brilliant are Dr Aarohi. I believe we should proceed with the ideas and since this is your own project, you should represent these ideas to the next board meeting."

Aarohi said "I will do that Dr Abhimanyu. Thank you for your support on my project. I need to go for another round before lunch. So, I will take your leave Dr Abhimanyu."

"Sure Dr Aarohi. I even need to go for a round." replied Abhi.

Soon, they completed their lunch in the canteen after giving a round. Then both Abhi and Aru went to the operation theatre to perform a critical surgery which was a success after many delicate hours. The patient's family took a relief breath knowing that the tension is gone and the patient is out of danger, though he needs to stay in observation for 24 hours and needs to follow dos and don'ts post operation. After completing the surgery, both Abhi and Aru went for another round. Then they went back to their respective houses.
