Freya's POV"For me, it doesn't matter who I accept as my Luna." Standing outside the door, I gripped my hand tightly and suddenly lost the courage to open the door. I turned around and made my way to the bathroom."How could he say this, with that damn calm tone?" I thought angrily.Kingsley's words echoed in my mind. It dawned on me that I was not accepted by him as his Luna because I was extraordinary; rather, just anyone would be same for him, since we were all not Tracy.Gazing at the diamond ring on my finger, I chuckled inwardly. This ring symbolizes our marriage, but when I moved out of the villa, I left it.It was the first time he had ever put the wedding ring on me. At our mating ceremony, Tracy showed up, and Kingsley left before the ceremony concluded, so I had to take it upon myself to put on the ring.In retrospect, even without Tracy, Kingsley and I wouldn't have grown old together, would we?I spent ten minutes outside, collecting my emotions before returning to the private room.I pushed the door open, and the food had already been served. Kingsley glanced up at me, but remained silent.Grace greeted me and motioned for me to sit down. "What took you so long?"I whispered, "I apologize. I had a slight upset stomach."Grace hesitated for a moment, staring at me. She suddenly said, "Go to the hospital to get checked."I forced a smile and replied, "I know."Grace didn't engage in further conversation with me. They exchanged occasional words, and I felt like an outsider during this family dinner. With my head resting on my hands, I began to eat. Suddenly, an additional piece of rib appeared in my bowl, and I turned to look at Kingsley. He didn't even glance at me; he simply remarked nonchalantly, "Help yourself to whatever you want."No, I wasn't an outsider; I was merely an atmospheric person at this family dinner, acting an eligible Luna that Kingsley wished.Unexpectedly, Kingsley's phone rang, and as he stepped out to answer it, Grace put down her fork and inquired, "Freya, how long have you been experiencing stomach issues? Have you been vomiting?"I knew she still suspected that I might be pregnant.I tried to explain, "I'm not pregnant. My period ended last week."Grace remained unconvinced and inquired, "Did you take the soup I gave you on time?"The mention of those soups suddenly made my stomach churn.Grace had been so fixated on my potential pregnancy that she had been searching for a doctor to provide me with some kind of "son delivery soup" all these years."Yes," I responded. Knowing Grace didn't believe me, I added, "Sarah watched me drink it."Joyce chuckled. "Mom, I don't think she can get pregnant at all. Even if your medicine is effective, it won't work for her!"Grace shot her a disapproving glance and said, not too softly, "Don't interrupt."Joyce pouted and rolled her eyes.Just as I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, I saw Grace instruct Joyce to fetch a small box from the floor and open it. Inside, neatly arranged rows of cans filled with black liquid awaited.Grace unscrewed a bottle and placed it in front of me. Immediately, a peculiar smell overwhelmed me, causing my stomach to churn."Mother, I feel like this medicine doesn't really help. Besides, during my recent physical exam, the doctor said I'm in good health."Joyce sneered, "If you're in good health, why can't you get pregnant?"I stared at her coldly, my face sullen.Joyce's expression was provocative as if she was certain that I wouldn't dare to respond.Suddenly, I spoke up, "Not being able to get pregnant is better than getting pregnant and having an abortion."Joyce's face changed, and she asked, "What are you talking about?""Nothing," I shrugged. "When I went to the hospital for a checkup, I saw many young girls getting abortions, and it made me think."Joyce stared at me with a mix of shock, fear, and a hint of suspicion in her eyes.Grace frowned. "I heard that the parents of Kingsley's cousin are planning a mating party for him. If Kingsley's cousin finds a mate, and his mate becomes the first to get pregnant, it might affect Kingsley's position in the pack in the future."I pursed my lips and fell silent.Grace then continued, "Your mother has remained in a coma for many long years, showing no signs of awakening. Your father, still so young, may choose to marry again in the future. At that time, are you sure that you can still return to your pack? However, if you have a child, the situation will change. The child will be your own, and in the future, you will depend on him. Freya. People should plan for themselves more carefully."I knew Grace wasn't truly looking out for me. Everyone in the royal family of the Shadowmoon Pack had their own ulterior motives, and I was merely a pawn in their games."I understand," I replied, casting my gaze downward. I picked up the medicine with a composed demeanor, swallowing it silently.Soon after, Kingsley entered the room.Grace had achieved her goal, so she stood up and declared, "I have a date with my friend this afternoon. It's almost time."Joyce hurriedly got up, saying, "I also have plans to go shopping with a friend, Mom. I'll see you off."Before leaving, Grace reminded me once again, "Freya, remember what I said."I nodded in acknowledgement. After seeing them off, Kingsley turned to me and inquired, "What did my mother say to you?""Nothing," I replied.Kingsley appeared ready to be angry, but the phone interrupted him once again. He glanced at the caller ID, furrowed his brow, then turned to me and instructed, "Wait for me in the car."He grabbed the phone and exited the room.Glancing at the caller ID, I noticed the name "Sweetheart."Unsure if the medicine Grace had given me had any side effects, I felt drained after taking it. Sitting in the car, I soon found myself closing my eyes, drifting into a daze.Just as sleep was about to claim me, a weighty object suddenly landed in my arms, jolting me awake.Kingsley had slipped into the car. I gazed at the box he had placed in my lap, puzzled. Curiosity compelled me to open it.Inside lay the necklace I had glimpsed in a magazine recently.I looked at him with bewilderment. "What does this mean?"Kingsley glanced at me impatiently. "It's from a client. I have no use for it."A memory surged within me: last year, someone else had gifted him a pair of expensive diamond earrings. Kingsley had tossed them to me, and I had been elated, cherishing them so much that I lost them at a party, causing me days of heartache and earning Kingsley's mocking disdain.Little did he know that I treasured them because they were his gift to me.Now, reflecting on it, those earrings were merely a discardable possession to Kingsley—something he had casually given away without a second thought.I closed the box and handed it back to him. "Let's divide our belongings after we reject each other, so I won't need to take it back."Kingsley's countenance instantly fell, "Freya! What qualifies you to bring up rejection? What makes you think you have a say in dividing our property? You're currently provided for in every way. Can you sustain yourself without this privileged life?"My fingers trembled; every time I believed I was impervious to Kingsley's words, he would pierce my heart once again, emphasizing how worthless I appeared in his eyes.As I was about to open the car door and leave, Kingsley suddenly pulled me closer, and my eyes widened as his dry, tender lips touched mine—Kingsley kissed me.It was the first time Kingsley had taken the initiative to kiss me. In the past, I had always been the one to initiate our kisses, while Kingsley could only be driven to impatience by my request. He had never shown a desire to kiss and possess me. Instead, it was Tracy who occupied his thoughts, even when he was feverish and unconscious, murmuring her name involuntarily. As I contemplated this, his every touch suddenly became unbearable. As soon as Kingsley inserted his tongue, I fiercely clamped down, managing to bite through his lip despite his evasive maneuver.A metallic tang of the blood lingered in my mouth as Kingsley released his grip and scowled."What's wrong with you?"I was so enraged that I couldn't speak for half a day. Kingsley's voice resounded once more, his tone slightly more restrained this time as he coldly stated, "Admit your mistake, and I'll pretend that nothing happened."What was he talking about? Admit my mistake? Who was I to acknowledge my wrongdoing? He was the one who betrayed and acted wrongly!I interrupted him with a derisive snort, "Should I continue shedding tears of gratitude for you?"Kingsley furrowed his brow, "I'll give you another chance!""Thank you, but I have no need for one."Kingsley's anger was stirred, "Freya! Don't overestimate yourself!""Kingsley, why don't we make a wager?" I raised my gaze, meeting his eyes directly, my expression as impassive as ever. "Let's see if I can thrive after leaving you.""Yeah," Kingsley laughed angrily, "I'd like to witness how you flounder in the mire without me!"Jeremy's hands trembled as he pulled over."When?" I asked.Kingsley's eyes glared at me, ablaze with anger. After a few seconds, he responded coldly and stiffly, "Tomorrow night, in the very square where our bond was formed, I, Kingsley Wright, shall vow to reject you, as you wish, Freya Yost."Author's note: Search it on Amazon or Google Play and read all chapters.
