IN THEIR PRIME, Amber James and Cole Walter had anyone and everyone in the palm of their hands.

He was the quarterback and captain of the school's football team, while she was the captain of the cheerleading squad,

such a cliché right?

While the girls daydreamed over Cole's sandy blonde hair and luminous pastel green eyes, the boys practically drooled over Amber's long brown locks, shining hazel eyes, and perfectly, full, pink lips.

But the couple didn't care, because they were too caught up in each other. Because, when they were together, the world fell silent, and everyone and everything disappeared. Every school assignment, fights, worries, and problems didn't seem too matter that much anymore.

Because their worlds simply consisted of each other.

But that was until everything took a turn. that was before jealousy replaced happiness, and the sweet words and soft laughter that once filled both the Walter household and the James residence, were replaced by harsh regrets and loud voices that secretly meant that they couldn't live without each other and didn't even bear the thought of losing one another.

Jealousy is an ugly emotion, one that breeds broken hearts, doubt and loss of trust.
Before, neither of them had cared that they both got so much attention from the other gender, but suddenly the cliché love story of Cole Walter and Amber James had turned into something else.

They're biggest fight, had been the one that changed everything. Where jealousy had got the better of them both and it had lead to them spilling out things that they didn't mean. Nor did it help that it took place just minutes before the biggest game of the year was about to start. Cole Walter was seriously injured during that peculiar game. A knee injury so serious, that his bright football career was placed on a shelf, and the blonde was forced to watch his games from the tribunes.

Amber had desperately tried to mend their relationship during the beginning of Cole's rehabilitation, but it was for no use. Without football, Cole wasn't himself.

He grew angry, frustrated, and cold towards her.

So Amber James did what Amber James does best, she fled. She packed a bag and left the west coast and the state she called home, to get a whiff of fresh air and a new start, which she found in New York City.

Forced to come home almost a year later due to the tragic news of the return of the cancer cells in her mother's body.
