"Have you reached yet?" - Dylan
I smile at the concern my elder brother Dylan has for me, before replying to his text. He was so frantic when I boarded the train to London, more worried than me. I didn't want to leave the comfort of our childhood estate house, but I knew that being 18 means taking some responsibility upon myself.
When I got the letter through the door, telling me that I had been appointed as the head of the wonderful Costume and Design department in THE London Film Studios, I was bloody beyond ecstatic. It was a miraculous coincidence that the letter arrived on my 18th birthday. My day was complete as soon as I read the letter.
Being able to leave my hometown and settling in a modern apartment, with a freaking job that I love before the first day is just...sensational.
I walk off the train onto the busy platform, and adjust myself to the scenario. This is it, this is my home for the next couple years of my life, if not longer.

I hurriedly walk towards a presumably empty cab and slide into the back seat. The driver looks tired, too tired to safely drive a car. I'm too lazy though to actually go search for another taxi, so I stay seated. I fish the little post it note out of my pocket where the address of my apartment is noted down and I read it out loud to the driver. He gives me a mere grunt and turns the engine on.
I look outside the window, watching the whole of central London whiz by. This is my chance, I think. My chance to actually turn my life around. Forget about boys, mom and dad, and other pointless troubles. This is my chance to focus on what really matters.
Before I know it the classic black cab is parked outside a block of modern apartments. The burly driver turns around to face me, his face expectant. I briefly smile and then I hand him a fistful of coins that had been lying at the bottom of my purse for god knows how long. He nods his head at me and then I open the door, beginning the new chapter of my life.
I thrust the key into the door eagerly and opened the door to a fully furnished hallway. I shut the door behind me, taking stealthy steps. I intake a brief tour of the apartment, smiling at the framed quotes hung above each door. I can't contain my excitement anymore, I grab my mobile phone and dial Dylan's number, he answers on the 2nd tone.
"Dani?" he answers.
"Hey Dyl, just calling to tell you that I have reached my apartment and it's AMAZING" I reply.
"Really? Good for you then. I can't wait to visit you" I can sense him grinning over the phone.
"I know, I know. So, I'm going to do the usual now I guess, you know; unpack, shower, eat maybe a snack. Later I'm going to phone Becky and ask her about tomorrow. I need to know every detail for when I arrive at the studio, I can't mess up on the first day" I emphasise.
"Dani, I have faith in ya', just be the confident little titch you are".
"Hey, I am not short, I am the average height for an 18 year old girl in the UK" I say.
"You keep telling yourself that" he chuckles.
"So, what are your plans for the rest of the day, you going out with Emma?" I ask him. Emma is my brother's girlfriend. Their relationship is a little bit complicated, you know, on and off, but she is a nice person. Not going to lie, I'm waiting for their wedding day, just so I can be a bridesmaid.
"Nope, she's gone on a last minute road trip to Paris with her family" he says, "I'm inviting the lads over, we're probably gonna watch the match and have a drink or two".
