There came a cry from up above
And there I saw a lonely dove
And by this dove I saw a hawk
And I thought to he was there to stalk

But the bird just flew by the dove's side
I thought the dove would sense danger and hide
Then a crow came and tried to attack
And the hawk protected the dove from the bird of black

I realized then that it was friend not foe
And it flew with the dove so it wasn't alone
It protected the dove from the world's dangers
And the two birds we're friends, not strangers

I saw all this in the deep blue sky
As I watched it I found myself asking why
Why was the hawk so friendly and caring
It would protect it from any bird that was daring

I saw true friendship that day
I saw two different birds at play
One a hawk and one a dove
They flew together in the sky above
